how far from your age would you go if you were dating a guy/girl? im thinking 3 or 4 but then i think it depends on your age...i think it's ok if you're over 18 (like 18 & 21) but under would be too much of an age gap...what do you think?

At the moment I am 28 and devorced from a woman whom is 12 years older than me. I don't mean to say that age relationships don't work as in most cases they do. Just guess it does not matter on your age but on the feelings you have for the other person.
My husband and I are 12 years apart. This is no big deal as we are 30 and 42 (it was a little bit of a bigger deal when we were 22 and 34, but not much). I think any age gap of more than 3 or 4 years would be a big deal if you were a teenager though. There is so much emotional growth that happens as a teenager, and 3 or 4 years really seems like a lot more than that until you're an adult.
I don't think it matters in the slightest, as long as you get on and are happy. Although make sure it's legal!
Isn't there a formula for this? Half your age plus or minus seven or something like that.
Yep, there certainly is, Shipstabber, and I think you've got it spot on. I think it's plus seven, which means that I'm allowed to go out with a 19-year old. Or if it's older, it's double your age minus seven, which means my range is 19 to 41. Hmmm.
I think it definitely depends on age... I'm 21 and would go out with anyone 17 to 30. That's -4 years and +9. But as a 15 year old, I wouldn't have contemplated going out with an 11 year old or a 24 year old. And I expect my age range to change as I age. Ooh get that alliteration.
I'm 30 and my bf is 5 years younger than me but I'd happily go out with someone younger still if I were single. I don't think it matters really.
I went out with someone 17 years older than me. Age is only a number...
I am 24 my Girlfriend is 17, soon to be 18. I don't think of the age gap, however as people have posted it was odd as I knew her when i was 17 and she was 10!!
i started dating my bf when i was 13 and he was 19 and we got loads of stick for it but we've been together 6 yrs now and engaged. i must admit if it was my mate i would be pretty shocked but i think it depends on the person i was very mature for my age and he was very imature at the time
I think over 35% of a difference is a bit odd. No personal offence kweech, while 19 & 26 is ok 13 & 19 is a bit weird, and would make me question if you'll get too old for him soon.
i wouldnt bother with any formula's to be honest, stick with those who have answered along the lines of ' as long as youre happy' and keep it legal. For the record, im a bloke and its always been widely varied- i was 17 with a 26 yo patner and 24 with a 16 yo partner but always been happy !
When I was 16 I would have gladly gone out with a 40 year old man, but nobody ever asked me!! Now I am 34 and I still like older men- but they are actually more like my age now!!

yea..i guess it all depends on how old you are and also how you think... well, i think if you're 18 the oldest i would go is 24. i think too much would be odd..but thats just my opinion. =P When you're under 18 i think 2 years is alright. =P

IM 21 AND MY FIANCE IS 44 AND WE MET WHN I WAS 16 AND WE STILL 2GETHER AGE IS ONLY A NUMBER

My husband is 31 and I'm 24 and we've been together since I was 18 and he was 25. It just depends on the people and nobody ever thought it was strange (or at least they didn't say it to my face!)
