I am an elderly person and have just started having very intense stretching and shaking throughout my whole body when I wake up in the morning and even after my afternoon nap. My legs feel as if they are going to pull out from my hips, and my lower abdomen pulls up to my chest, but these spasms only last for about ten seconds and then I`m ok again. I obviously don`t pass out, and wonder if anyone can shed some light on this ailment. I don`t want to bother a GP about it unless it gets worse. I am teetotal so it`s not due to drink or drugs.

Sorry, but I hate it when people say they don't want to bother their GP. They are there to be "bothered".

What you are experiencing sounds unusual and you really should go to see your doctor and not ignore things, hoping the symptoms will pass.
I used to suffer from a trembling all over but more inside than out. I asked my Dr. about it and he said it was nerves. However, a couple of years on, I was diagnosed as having Type 2 Diabetes, given a tablet to take, and it stopped. My Dr. then apologised to me as he said I was trying to tell him and he didn't pick it up. I'm not saying this is your problem but a blood test would save you any further anxiety. Good luck.

Hello filibuster and Velvetee thankyou for your replys, I was going to go to my GP to-day but living in the south of England as you may have heard it`s bitterly cold at the moment and I don`t want to freeze so I`ll give it a few days longer to see if it gets a little warmer. Thanks again for your concern.
