Me and my mate went out on new years eve, she has recently split from her husband and has 2 children. Anyway when we were out a bloke kept eying her up and at end of night got her number. After saying she doesn't know whether he was her type, she has been txting him since that night and she says he makes her laugh and she really likes him. Anyway lastnight I had a text from her to say she was meeting up with him Thursday night. I just need to know if there is any tips I should give her apart from the obvious.

besides the obvious safety issues just tell her to "have a good time" and enjoy herself.

my friend is in a similar position having split from her hub of 23 yrs. she's been asked on loads of dates, (from coffee, to movies, to seeing a band) but....she's turned em all down. she says she finds the single scene too intimidating...even though she is adament she'd like to date again. i keep trying to advise her that a date is just another way of broadening her social circle - it doesn't mean anything has to happen physically/sexually - or even that she ahs to see the guy again if the date is boring...but after 23 yrs she's just floundering... :-(

see I think my mate is just clutching at the first guy who takes notice and she needs to play the field for a bit, just have fun and go on lots of dates. also she may be using it as a way to get back at husband.
hmmm - maybe she "is" clutching at the first guy but then again this might be just what she needs at the moment to kickstart her self esteem again....after all maybe after thursday night she might get some confidence back and start dating other guys?

but thats just it I think she'll just go for this bloke and not look about, but then that might not be bad as you said. I just hope she doesnt introduce him to the children
Does he know about the kids?
4get, do u remember my mate blakey?
whenever i went on a date with someone, he (and others) would know exactly where i was and when id be home.
anyway, at ponts through the eve they would text me questions that only i knew the answer to, if they didnt get an answer then the idea was theyd come and get me

yes he does know she has kids. the first txt she sent me about him was 'he's only 26' I told her she shouldnt be looking at it like that yet but just getting to know him as a mate. and redcrx I dont want to be texting her all night :-)
The best way to get over a split is to meet someone knew. It'll take her attention away and if he's not right she'll cop it on quite quickly. It's nice to have an ego boost.
Of course you're concerned about your friend (especially if you've supported her through her break-up), but she is an adult.

If texting/meeting this bloke gives her a confidence boost and/or takes her mind off recent worries, that's a good thing, surely? Why are you worried?
