most side effects are weight gain, periods stopping or increasing and excessive sweating. it depends how old you are. my sis got one she is 19 and her periods lasted so long and got that bad that she now has to take the pill aswell as having the implant just to regulate her periods, she also experienced major excessive sweating whereas before she was the type of person who could sit on a radiator and still be freezing. i would say if your over 21 ask for a coil. the pill is fine but can easily be forgotten and thats when things go wrong, at least with the coil you can pretty much forget about it for 5 yrs and it really reduces your periods which is great. the injection contraceptive is just as bad if not worse than the implant. i had jab twice before my coil and put on loads of weight which im still struggling to shift.
not all people have problems with the implant. I was the opposite, until recently I was on my 2nd over 4 yrs and have barely had a period. No trouble at all I would highly recommend it and have only had it taken out as I'm trying for a baby. I will definitely be having one again.

i have an implant already got pegnant on the coil as my family was compleate i had a termination at xmas i am getting sore breats and dont want to be pregnant again as im due for steralization 9 sept how cant honestly remember when my last period was think about 5 weeks ago do you think i could do a pregnancy test?.... also would they perform a termination before steralization or would i have to put the operation off?
A pregnancy test would work now if its 5 weeks since your last period. All I can say is you must be one unlucky person if you are pregnant and have managed to do this twice whilst using contraception that is supposed to be almost 100% effective!
I do find that I get very sore boobs though and I didn't have periods whilst on it so it can be just hormonal.
I don't know for sure about the termination but I don't see why it wouldn't be able to be done before sterilisation.
Good luck I hope it works out ok for you.
