Bursitis in Heel

Had bursitis at the back of my heel for about a month now with no sign of it improving. My doc thought it would get better with rest but it hasnt. Still painful, but typical bursitis - nothing to show for it on the outside, heel looks perfectly normal, but incredibly painful when knocked. Anyone else suffered, and if so, how long did it take to heal please? TIA
