Foot related for those of you who aren't keen on feet and don't want to read on! :)

I've had increasing problems with my feet for a while now. I've noticed that I tend to "drag" my left foot more if I'm not concentrating and my right foot seems to turn outwards but not sure if that if a hip issue, tight kneecaps issue, muscles etc... or a mixture. An MRI scan showed up bursitis and odema in my feet previously so guessing it's my arthritis wreaking havoc.

Rhumatology had a look at them and got a letter through saying my medical arch is collapsing on my left foot which looks a lot flatter and more squashed than the other one. I'm off to orthotics to see if they can help.

I'm struggling to find footwear which is comfortable, even my comfiest furry boots and Sketchers soft shoes with comfort insoles aren't helping, feels like the bones in the middle of my feet are broken and like I'm walking on metal rods in my heel. It gets uncomfortable to have things like tubigrips on as they press on the top of my feet which is painful.

I tried experimenting a bit with using both my walking sticks rather than one at a time, to take extra pressure off, but that makes things more difficult in terms of not having hands free and where to stick them when I need one or both hands.

Does anyone know of any really good comfy insoles, maybe some kind of gel ones? Anything cool would be an extra bonus as my feet do get really hot. Have had to stop wearing my boots now the weather is warmer.

I stick pain gel on them or cooling gels like aloe vera gel to limited effect, mostly at night to try and calm them down to help me get to sleep.

Any recommendations welcome!

Then you go up the price range to the Air Orthotic full insole

I used to work in a Sports shop and sold these items on a regular basis.

It may well be that you look at binning your comfy footwear and buy something more suitable or practical, Eve. The only other type of Footwear that gived Medial Arch support would be running shoes, and you'd want the type that are for someone who overpronates (You don't have to pay through the roof for a pair of shoes though, but be prepared to pay slightly more than the standard neutral shoes)
