Right you have had my problems, this is a friends.
she has for a few weeks been covered and i mean covered in a red rash which has red blistery patches which can be very uncomfortable.
Scabies and chicken pox have been ruled out and the fact she has a leather sofa have been ruled out.
The doctors do not know what it is the skin specialist does not know what it is any advice? she seems ok apart from that so i doubt its a virus.
please any help would be appreciated she is really suffering!

Could be an allergy to something.
BBC Watchdog suggested some leather sofas made in China but sold in various UK outlets contain sachets of an anti fungal chemical which gives off fumes when heated by house heating or bodily contact, and that is the cause of the mysterious blistering. It is NOT the leather, but the chemicals, and WHERE they are located. Look up the Watchdog archives for more info.

i think she has had allergy test done, so don t know bout that one i will ask monday.
as for the sofa the doctor ruled it out as he has seen a few cases, so knows what he is looking at. um we r pretty stumped
It could be urticaria (hives). My son had this problem for months. They started off quite small but then covered his whole body so he looked like he had been scalded. The hospital digagnosed it as urticaria and said many things can cause it from stress to something simple like going from a warm room to the cold outside she said we would probably never know what caused it. She prescribed Clarityn and this worked really well, he took it every day for about 8 months until there were no signs of any spots, he got to a point where it would only flare up if he was unwell especially a virus and eventually it went all together although they say it could return at any point in his life. The bottom line is we never really knew what caused it and the doctor told us not to worry about it too much but the Clarityn medicine did work really well. You can buy that over the counter so your friend could give it a go.I was told it was safe enough to take every day for the rest of his life if he needed to.
Hope this helps a little, I do feel for her
