My daughter has a CRT computer monitor which was originally owned by a smoker and asked me if I knew of a way to remove the smoking stains from the case of the monitor. She still uses a CRT monitor because she believes (and so do I) that flat screens are bad for the eyesight. Any cleaning tips please? Many thanks

Thanks folks. Good thinking. She will read your answers at Uni.
Thanks again
Whatever you do find to clean off the stains be sure to wear gloves because nicotine can be absorbed through your skin on contact. You may find that the oily tar stains have been absorbed into the plastic permanently.

you can buy something called MAGIC SPONGE - you just wet it and it seems to take off almost all dirt. don't know if it would work with nicotine stains but it is definately worth the shot:)

I don't know why flat screens have that effect nieboy but many people seem to agree that they do. I know several people who have gone back to CRT monitors for that reason.

Cheers all for all those very helpful answers.
