I have been really good since January, eating a strict 3 meals a day, small portions and no snacks. However the last few days it's as if my GREED has kicked in again! Any idea what causes this? Is it the depressing weather, or just that diets are really really hard to sustain?!

The same happens to me when it gets cold again! Try and eat apples - they contain pectin which will make you feel fuller. Sometimes it's all in my head - I tell myself I'll eat an apple and then I'm ALLOWED to eat something I really want. 9 times out of 10 I don't want it afterwards.....I'm so fickle!
I think it's the word diet . It implies that it's a short term thing. If you just accept that you have changed your eating habits for life, then it should be easier to cope with x
well done for lasting so long! i got depressed after a day that I couldn't eat what I wanted when I wanted and gave up! Am trying to be good but is really hard with all the yummy Easter chocolate in the house!
I know exactly what you mean scarlett - I am having the same problem myself. I managed to lose quite a bit of weight by eating sensibly but just lately I have been a total pig. I think the dark days and cold weather don't help as because I tend to want to stay indoors and if I am stuck indoors I graze constantly. As bathsheba says forget the word diet - I sometimes find that by telling myself I can eat what I like I no longer want to eat! It's not working at present, though, as there is too much chocolate around.
