I agree, I saw him years ago, either on Wogan or Parkinson and he kept going into Alf Garnet mode, saying all weird racist Garnet type things. The show's host was obviously embarassed and so was I. I wonder in Mitchell has a drink problem.

But he was probably keeping up the act because being "Alf" is the thing that a lot of people remember him for - not because he's genuinely unpleasant?

I can't remember the series, but I've seen old footage, and all he seemed to do, was shout! Was his character MEANT to be so obnoxious?
