Are they losing the plot? on the one hand they are against forces careers and on the other they seem to want to open up schools to the mad mullahs? WTF is going on? Should we leave our kids with these lefty activists?

Personally I choose not to. Costs me 11k a year to do so mind.
Reading the article carefully it says that the proposal was that religious schools should be made to accept students from other faiths.

Then there's a bit that says:

The unions general secretary Steve Sinnott said that allowing Muslim imams to preach in schools would be a way to reunite divided communities.

Then they quote a whole pile of "Angry of Tumbridge Wells" cases ranting against the straw man they've built and shove a rabid headline on the top.

Come on can't you see through the Express yet?

As for banning the Army recruiting in schools that's not what the story says either is it?

It says that they must give a true picture of life in the army and not a "marketised one"

Did you actually read this or skip straight into the lefty rant from force of habit?

you got me jake! I suppose I was just hoping to tease a lefty or two out of their shell to refute the tabloids! You see I think most lefty teachers probably would agree with doing what the headlines allude to but they won't go for it in one step rather the slowly slowly catchy monkey approach. By the same token the tabloids tend to counter by exagerating this sort of story in the hope of preventing the lefty progress toward their utopian dream/nightmare!
Regarding the Army only highlighting the good life one can gain from joining the Army and tending not to show the negative side. What other organisation, business etc. show their true picture? One has only to watch the commercials that are blasted out 24/7 from that box in the corner to realise this.

If you are trying to sell an item, a lifestyle or anything else for that matter, you don't usually make a point of showing the negative side. Why should the Armed Forces be any different? As in any career choice the final decision is left to the individual.
