Do you just make an appointment and ask your GP for a prescription for a couple of days worth of pills to treat anxiety caused by flying? I hate asking for anything specific like that from doctors!!

For a treanqulizer, yes, you will need a trip to the GP

You could try something like Qualms? No idea if they work though

If you meant Kalms, then no they don't work for me at all!
Oh goodness, my brain is so dead at 6am :(

The a trip to your GP is all that is open too you.
hi kate, your doctor should give you these with no problem, my friend get bad anxiety with flying and she goes to see her doctor for this each time she goes away.
I recently went on a long haul flight, was terrified but couldnt take pills cos I was scared to go through Dubai with them, and I did it without them.
Cant believe I did, 27500 miles or thereabouts and am now cured! I cant say I enjoyed it but by the time I got back I wasnt scared at all.
It is honestly mind over matter.
Now I cant wait to go somewhere else, but closer this time lol
GP can prescribe beta-blockers, these supress the rush of adrenalin which is the cause of the panicy feeling. They are not tranquilizers, I know of a couple of people who were prescribed them for their driving tests.
Get a mate to secretly slip sleeping pills in a burger then drink lots of milk afterwards, you will wake up having been on the plane asleep.

Seriously though have you considered hypnotherapy?
Hi Curiouskatie,
I am the world's worst flyer, I hate flying but have been on many a long haul, i cant get on a plane without anxiety pills, I used to take dizepam which never really worked, but recently a friend of mine who is a nurse, told me to take Lorazepam, 1mg, and i have to say wish i had taken them sooner, they are the best, you just sleep and sleep and dont know you have been flying at all, kept me extremely calm - i get stressed waiting in the departure lounge for fear of boarding the plane but after one of these beauties I could not have given a fig where I was it was a lovely calming sensation.....
...actually I think its LOPRAZOLAM 1 mg - the too are very similar even the doc got my prescription wrong lol.....had to go back and get it changed.....
Rick, a close friend of mine, has this afraid of flying. I see some pleasant results in him, since using http://www.yourwingz.com/. maybe, you too try.
