Hi. My fiance and I are trying to come up with a first dance that's beautiful and romantic but not cheesy! it's very difficult. He's really into rock so we're having trouble. Any ideas? x

We have chosen "From This Moment" by Shania Twain for ours but if you want something more rock based what about "Always" by Bon Jovi or "Don't Want To Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith?
How about Aerosmith's Don't Wanna Miss A Thing?
the first things that spring to my mind are:

Always - Bon Jovi
Don't want to miss a thing - Aerosmith

but they still seem cheesy to me!
Great minds think alike hey Daffy?
Seems like we all so far have voted for Aerosmith.lol.
Thank you for loving me by Bon Jovi
I'm not very good at this. However, some that I might use as a first dance would be:

If by bread
How Deep is your love Bee Gees
If you could read my mind Gordon Lightfoot
Baby, now that I've found you...can't remember who did that one
Can't take my eyes off of you.... The Lettermen

Congratulations!

I alwaylike to join a thread that mentions cheese.
One mans rock is another mans cheese.
Just comes down to personal preference, do you have any ideas floating around helster? I presume you will have a whole list of definite no-no's.

My friends had Aerosmith, but to them it was apparently the first song they had danced to - which in some peoples view could be cheesy!
I'd have like Metallica- Nothing Else Matters, but my husband thought it was pure cheddar!x
*liked
Aerosmith, Bon Jovi etc is all a bit predictable and thats me as a DJ speaking. Forever by Kiss might be worth a listen to.

However, what music are you into? What song did you have your first kiss to? First dance to?

Ooooh just had a thought, have you heard Foo Fighters - Miracle? It's beautiful and might be worth a listen.x
We wanted "all I need to get by" Method Man and Mary J Blige and we took the album just to make sure but the dj only had cd decks and we ended up with the bloody righteous brothers or some such crap - so make sure you organise well in advance.
Rev, you didn't ruin my wedding did you?
In a recent poll, Aerosmith (as above) took top spot as the most played 1st dance at weddings.

Not really rock, but cool couples these days are choosing Snow Patrol (Chasing Cars), Jack Johnson (Better Together), David Gray (Sail Away) or Harry Connick Jr (It Had To Be You). Louis Armstrong (All The Time In The World) is consistently popular. My sister-in-law wanted Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden, but the DJ forgot the CD! There arent really that many rock songs that make it. Is there a particular band that he likes and you can compromise with, or will he have to do the compromising?
Paulo for your information I have NEVER used decks, I rarely use cd's lol.

Why should I bother ar5ing about when I can just use me laptop! As long as you play the right music no-one cares about the format, some DJ's are just up their own backsides...
I had "dream a little dream" by mamma cass - It's a bit different from the usual and is timeless.
Personally I really like close to you by the carpenters or because of you by jackie wilson.
