Right, I gave up smoking 7months ago, cut down on the beer, started to eat more properly, went to bed earlier, got up earlier. I cycle alot and get a good amount of general exerise. So why do I fell knackered more now than a year ago. PS.we have had a baby 6 months ago and I do my bit but the wife does most so it can't be that. can it?

Quite simply yes, your wife is probably shattered and so you feel tied in sympathy.
Just take a look at your Q and see what a huge change has taken place in your life (not to mention your wife's!) over the last 7 months and you will see the answer immediately.

Your whole system is probably doing the equivalent of a tap dance with your body clock upheavals eg. nicotine withdrawal, sleep changes, not to mention the joy, stress and exhaustion of a new babe. Don't worry, as these are all positive changes - just give your system time to catch up.

Congrats on the baby...perhaps ur a bit anaemic ....ask ur gp to do a blood test...describe ur symptoms and see what he says. BTW most people with a 6 month old child are sleep deprived !
well done on giving up smoking, and to your new healthy lifestyle! As for having a baby 6 months ago (congrats) i would say that has contributed to your lack of energy as they certainly do take it out of you mentally as well as physically. it is a huge change to both your life's having a baby, so no wonder you feel so tired!
Bluedolphin could be on the right track. Maybe get ure thryroid checked as well. And make sure you and your wife get quality time together. In-laws could come in handy there!!

Chronic fatigue syndrome (which will go away, you just need to change something) maybe, brought on by sudden changes to your body. You would feel extremely  knackered after just light exercise. Stress can bring this on too, too much thinking is exhausting aswell.
