My boyfriend and I don't often get to spend time alone but have the perfect opportunity on Friday. Apart from cooking him a nice meal has anyone any ideas what I could do to make it a night to remember. We have been going through a been of a tough time recently and I really want to show him just how much he means to me.

Your offer of a good meal will be enough to win my heart.

Have wholesome ENGLISH food, preferably

Sheppherds Pie (with the baked beans inside!!!)
Rhubarb Crumble

Get a movie that he will like as a surprise. Like a kung fu one or war epic. Men really are not bothered about chick flicks and he will love you for choosing one for him!!

Plenty of decent red wine

Also make the bedroom nice and warm with clean bedding and maybe a hot water bottle.

And let him spank your behind with a firm hand to show he has dominance.

wear something nice and seductive and some nice underwear too, maybe some new ones he hasn't seen before that flatter you, make the table up to be nice with candles etc., take the phone off the hook too and put some nice slow music on quitely in the background.

Have a nice night and above all enjoy each others company. x

Shadow Man - thanks for suggestions.

Not really sure that Shepherds Pie is romantic, especially with the addition of baked beans!

He's not much of a drinker so I think I will maybe skip the wine otherwise I can see myself drinking it all and falling asleep on him!

Will take your suggestion of a film up I think and maybe a nice bath with candles for lighting.

He gets a bit too carried away with the spanking though so again I think I will give that a miss!

confused79 - am looking online at the moment for new underwear at the moment!

Good point about phone being off the hook. My phone going off all the time drives him mad!

Thanks again for your suggestions x
In otherwords browneyedgirl, I'll shut up!!!!!

(PS Shepherds PIe is the best male food in the world!!!)
Hmmm, make sure you top the night off by spending quality time together after your meal. (if it looks like it isnt going anywhere put some porn on first).
Make sure you smell and look nice.
Dont talk about anything that could turn into an argument and most of all, like someone above says, turn your phones off...
You should def. put baked beans in shepherds pie - they bubble up around the mash and go all burnt and crispy - yummy!
However in my experience most men are happy to forgo meal and skip straight to dessert, namely you - you could add chocolate sauce, cream and a cherry!!!!

MrBen5 - no worries about night not going anywhere! My boyfriend is 7 years younger than me with a sex drive like no other guy I have experienced!

Will definitely have to watch the conversation as you say, don't want to miss the opportunity of having a great night in by rowing!
I would agree about the comfort foods in reaching the typical males psychotic heart. However, you might wish to carry it a bit further. Small nibbly chocolates for dessert being served in the bedroom. Place coloured scarves over the lamps (check for heatdont want any fires other than with the two of you!) Some gentle, quite music playing in the bedroom, in advance, where the scene can move towards there.
Essential to have oil lavender!

The clothing thing is a subjective one. Yes, enticing, sexy clothes can flip the bonnet of some men. But, on the other hand, a subtle approach of wearing one of his t-shirts, where it reaches just below your hips, and some lacy undergarments can be just as much of a turn-on.

Tactile communication is also important. Not jumping one anothers bones, but just the quiet, subtle touches, touching his hair, stroking his earlobe, feet touching below the table those sorts of things.

Umthe kung foo or anything that involves a film with guns or any violence would be a turn-off to me. Perhaps middle of the road, if your man is not in to emotional films, try something alluring, foreign, or comedy or combined. Something silly, such as the old standard When Harry Met Sally might be middle of the road. Little Miss Sunshine, or something darker like Harold and Maudelots of possibilities.

And as I recall, in another thread, I offered someone some ideas of what we did to help a young family who were struggling to keep their relationship on tract..you might try writing a few have I told you lately that I love you notes.

Oh..and if the budget permits, have your dinner catered at home, where the two of you are served together! It makes for a fun evening and someone else does the washing up!

I wish you every success

hellyon - bit anxious over putting baked beans in a shephers pie because of the wind factor!

Maybe I will take up your suggestion of being the main course!
Ahhh, he is 7 years younger. Is that why you end up rowing, becuase you expect more maturity from him?
Question Author
MrBen5 - Not at all, in fact he is more mature most of my ex-boyfriends who have all been much older than me!

Seem to be rowing a lot at the moment purely down to me. I am stressed a lot at work and in my family life and seem to be taking it out on him.

VillageVicar - You're right you know, I have bought ridicously expensive underwear before and he much more prefers me in one of his t shirts (preferably a football shirt)!

Won't be getting outsid ecaterers in. Am thinking of cooking Beef Wellington
im plannin on makin a romantic evening with my bf what ive got planned is some good cooking probably steak or something as he likes it or a favourite food, some wine candles maybe a dvd however, there is a catch, we both have to dress up nice for each other as it feels like we've both made an effort rather than wearing the usual clothes which become a daily boring thing and treat it kinda like a 1st date as it adds excitement have some good pudding lined up as well as this could lead to fun in the bedroom.....
a bj.
All great suggestions above, but can I add one small one? I've found in the past that a really good foot massage is the most fantastic thing to receive from someone special... xx
browneye...well done you! If you're doing the wellington, if you have any foie gras left, I'd suggest making a small plate of foie gras, toasted brioche and some cranberries. The cranberries are intersting in that they help clear the palate, even before the fact. Don't want your footballer huffing, puffing and belching :-)

But...whilst he may like the football t-shirt, it could be an unwanted distraction...go for white..or something silky and non-football! :-) And whilst it's tasty, no asparagus with the welly! I'm sure you gt my drift :-)

Have fun!
Question Author
lilminxlou- I think that dressing up as though it is a date is a great idea. I try to dress up for him as much as possible but he doesn't make much effort as prefers to wear comfy clothes.

nutgoneflake - I have tiny hands so my massages are never any good! Am sure he would appreciate it though
Question Author
VillageVicar - I made the mistake of preparing a meal with asparagus in a while ago and regretted it later that evening! lol

Try the Thai Chavutti knee massage. This isn't where you massage the knee - it's where you use your knees to massage him. You use broad pressure points as well as making the experience rather romantic.

Again, best of luck

and I'm still impressed about the Beef Wellington...just made one on Saturday!

Fr Bill
Nooo, browneyedgirl, small hands will make it easier! OK, a body massage might be tricky for you, but toes? Honestly, take my word for it, toes are a much-overlooked erogenous zone...!
