Hi - can anyone give me any tips or the best drugs to take to alleviate my fear of flying ? I have flown lots but dont like it and get myself really wound up a weeke before i know im flying. I have tried Diazepam and a 'drink; with it as my doc advised but it didnt help my fear. My friend is a nurse and gave me some of her Lorazepam - but not sure how many to take.....I need something that really knocks me out, I have panic attacks in the air which is no fun at all and the sensation is just awful...
Thanks

My sister is terrified of flying and now takes Valium when she has to fly which really helps her.
But make sure youcheck the rules of the county you are going as she has just found out that she cant take them into Dubai with her - its punishment of death apparently!! So she has to take beta blockers for the journey back which are sipposed to be just as good

if you can afford it try a hypnotist............they are very good (some of them) better than taking valium or diaz sies......
They are alright for short term but would nt it be nice to alleviate the fear altogether?? :)

Whatever you choose to take remember that they have the right to refuse to let you fly if they think you are under the influence of drink or drugs. So don't overdo it.
If you want something herbal, valeriana drops are very good. They work as a tranqualiser. I suffer from panic attacks in lots of situation including planes but this halps a lot. If you're not confident enough to use it in the plane, try using it in the week before just to subdue the worked up feeling you mentioned and then use something stronger for flight!

Good luck x x

I have tried lots of pills n potions and nothing quite does it enough to calm me down - going to the Dominican Republic...yay! Took vallium (diazepam) and I just felt sleepy - although wide awake and very aware how many thousands of feet up i was - not good - so am going to try Lorazepam now...bring it on...
