On TV this morning they said that people nowadays dont get to see their grandparents because they live to far away. How many of you still visit your grandparents regularly, or if you dont have any but have children do they regularly see their grandparents?

My Nan lives quite far away, but I make sure Im round when she visits my mum about twice a year. I was very close to my other Nan and used to see her every week until she died. So now I really bug my bloke for not seeing his granddad that lives close by as you never know when they are going to leave this world.
my kids see their gran and grandad(wifes side) on a daily basis as they only live a mile away.

however.............. my dad lives 5 doors up and they see him about once a month???
Every school holiday I had to spend with my grandparents.

It used to get ever so lonely in the cemetary.
When I was young my grandparents looked after me a lot but all of them were retired. My kids rarely get looked aftwer by their grandparents, they are young, they work and have small children themselves. My kids dont see their grandparents half as much as I saw mine and most of my friends are in the same situation.

Over recent years, from grandmothers, I have heard the line, I have brought my children up I don't want to help with anyone elses. I really think the family unit and support is breaking down.
pmsl @ reverend!!!
Oh and I speak to granny and grandad 200 miles awawy on the phone every week. My granny who lives abroad I speak to fortnighty and see her 3 times a year roughly and my nan who lives here I visit twice a week sometimes more.
I was never close to mine (all dead). I saw my one grandad maybe 4 times before he died and my one gran walked past me in the street once and didn't recognise me.
ahh Rev, thats so sad! :-(

mine are all long since dead now but my kids see their grandparents regularly! i think its important.
Hi Unrul......

My parents have fallen out with all relatives lol got 4 cousins I havent seen for about 25 years, I'm an only child with no kids so the Funk family line ends with me.

Where's my sister sledge lp.....
Mrs4GS insists we take the sprogs to see the leader of the opposition (her mother) every weekend
Well, I've only got one grandad left and I see him every week at my parents for Sunday Lunch - when they were alive I saw all of my grandparents at least a couple of times a week, and my mums mum lived with us after my grandad died!

My son sees my parents a few times a week and sees my husbands mum & step-dad every other weekend, but we only see his dad about once a year!!

A xXx

My Dad died when I was 6 and you would think that his Mum (my Gran) would have done everything in her power to stay close to us (I have a younger sister) but all she did was criticise us and put us down

I am now 29 and have nothing to do with her or any of that side of my family!

Grandparents on my Mums side have both passed away
My daughter sees my dad all the time, even though we have just moved 15 miles away, sometimes he is waiting at our house when she comes in from school. She was very close to my mum until she passed away and since then her and dad have been like two peas in a pod, sitting in the same chair, laughing at the same silly jokes. I am left out, but do I mind - not in the slightest!! I love it. She has another grandad in Carlisle, she sees him when he comes down, and we do go up there sometimes, but the travelling is expensive, no excuse I know. Her other nan doesn't live that far away and she sees her when she visits her dad. But she didn't see her for the first 5 years of her life, her choice not mine.
My parents are both dead but Mr O's parents are alive and kicking...unfortunately.
They were brilliant grandparents with our two oldest kids but when the youngest came along, my mother in law hated him from the word go. I know I'm biased but he is a sweet, happy, well mannered little boy and I can't see why she loathes him. He has never been invited to any of their family functions, so none of us go.
Our two oldest kids have chosen of their own volition to stop seeing their grandparents, in solidarity with their brother.
Mr Overall is caught between a rock and a hard place but puts his son before his parents. Other family members have tried to find out why she is like she is and the only thing she ever said (when my boy was a toddler) was "Every time I look at that baby I want to slap his stupid face."
It's their loss.
