Nope, this is my one and only true love.
I can honestly say that I will never ever find another lady like my mrs johnlambert, nor do I want to. I knew the first time we went out that she was ' THE one' I'd never felt that way about anyone before, and there were lots and lots of befores. Anyway as I'm 17 years older than her, chances are I'll be the one to die first.

I dont know is a hard one, it depends on fate as im a great beleiver in it. Dont really wanna think about it its quite sad.

Id hope so anyway but i wonder whether you'd alwasys compare the new love to hoe you felt in the old love i suppose you would its only natural.
I think there is different kind of love. I could fall in love again but it would never make me forget the person I loved or could anyone ever replace them. But surely life is about making yourself happy and I couldnt be on my own.
And I'm sure if my bloke asked me what would I be happy if he did, I would say yes because I'd want him to be happy
lambert can I ask would you want her to find someone else?
In my experience people who have enjoyed happy, loving marriages are more likely to remarry after bereavement than those who weren't so lucky.

Love comes in many forms, and a person does not have a limited supply of love. Loving a new partner does not stop the love and cherishing of the lost spouse. Time is a great healer, life goes on, but memories and love don't fade.
Yes. Love is an emotion within yourself, not the partner. You love them dearly, but that exact emotion was in you already. It is just the woman who lets you haemorrage that love.

the same can be said of all emotions. Jealousy for example. People are jealous of Ferraris, yet few know people with them. If they did, and they had the jealousy emotion, they would be jeaalous of that person.

Again violent emotions. If a man becomes a wife beater, he was a wife beater before he met her (just didn;t have a wife!!!). and he would be a wife beater again whn she leaves.

Emotion (in all guises) therefore follows the holder, not the chosen subject.

yes off course, but only after I'm dead. seriously 4get yes I would, as you rightly say, it's their happieness that counts, I wouldn't expect her to wear black clothing and grieve like queen victoria did for fifty odd years after I'm gone.
so you wouldnt love again. :-(
No, I don't think I could, I'd be quite happy not to let anyone into my life again, I couldn't find any feeling as intense as the ones I have for her.
it difficult to say.

Putting the pro's & con's together in these posts would suggest that its still a mix response your getting laurence2

My thread is back folks, i seemed to get sapped for some reason or another

Thankyou all for your responses
Wow john. I hope I find somebody one day who feels for me the way you do about Mrs J.

Thing is, Im holding out for somebody who I feel for as john does about his true love. Once I find that I dare say that I would only ever love that one person and therefore nobody would ever be able to take their place.

I dont think it would mean I wouldnt be able to love again if they died though. I would probably mourn the loss of that person for the rest of my living days, but after a significant time of grieving I couldnt deny that I may take comfort in another persons arms. And Im sure Id love that person too, but in a very different and much lesser way.

Does that make sense?
Well as long as youd be happy lambert. My mates dad died when she was 12 and people are constantly trying to set her mum up with people but shes quite happy on her own. Same with my nan she was on her own 20 years before she died

I feel sad and unloved now.

I'm going to go home and sob myself to sleep.

:'o(
I think I agree with John..although of course I am bound to say the same as him because I really do feel as if I am with the love of my life.

If something happened to Mr P I doubt I would ever fall in love again. I imagine I would be quite happy without anyone else in my life.

It's a tough Q, because you don't know until it happens do you? look at Paul McCartney...
