My mum passed away when I was 17 and two days after her passing, I woke in the middle of the night could not speak or move, but felt a presence in the bedroom. Tried calling out to my sister who was sleeping but no words would come out..tried moving but I couldn't....has anyone else experienced anything like this. x

Yes, I have and still do. It's called sleep paralysis, try googling and you will find lots of info. It's pretty scary, I find I get it during periods of stress or exhaustion.

Thank you alijangra....yes it was very scary..I will google it. xx
I must have been about 16 when it first happened to me. I was convinced it was ghosts. I only heard about sleep paralysis through a friends boyfriend about 6 years later. He actually had the sense to go to his GP, who told him what it probably was!
I also find it happens more if I fall asleep on my back, and I usually have a 'feeling' before I go to sleep that it is going to happen. I get it about once a month now.

To be honest alijangra.......I really thought it was mum because she had just passed.....being 17 at the time... but I guess now in hindsight it must have been stress..... x
Im glad it was just a one-off for you, it's not a nice thing to keep happening. At least if it does happen again, you will know what it is.

I used to have weird dreams, but they were definitely connected to the books i was reading at the time. One of them was 'Jonathan Livingstone Seagull' which is about using your self to extend your self. I actually laugh about the book but still lend it to anyone who'll read it.
You have to be open minded i think
The guy who wrote it did a load of other books too, which I also lend to anyone who wants them.
Hi, I have the sleep paralysis about once a month, I also have hypnogogic hallucinations. This is where I wake up and see things that aren't there. Its extremely real but I was made to feel like I might be making it up until I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy 6 months ago. Now it doesnt seem so frightening. I also have constant tiredness with it but I thought that was just being a mum that done that. xx
my bedroom is spiritually active. Often at night i feel a presence and go cold and see things out the corner of my eye etc. For saying i've got spectorphobia, i'm suprised i'm still living were i do.
I'm not being funny here but this morning, i was lying in my bed and i kept feeling like my ethrical body was floating out of my phsyical body and floating away. I ended up having to stand up for an hour.
I get the same as rachel sleep paralysis with hallucinations included, I've had fights with monkeys giant spiders, cats in my bed. Those bits are quite funny, just dont like when I cant breath
Hello Redbel,
this has happened to me several times and I had no idea it had a proper name.
For me it's always the same -usually in the morning if I'm having a lie in after my husband gets up and goes out. I think I'm awake and know I'm alone in the house, but sense the bedroom door opening, someone coming across the bedroom and pulling the bedcovers back. I'm scared to death, but can't move until I somehow make a huge effort and scream out, at which point I really do wake up.
I can't tell you how unsettling it is, as I genuinely think someone is there although I can't see anyone. It's not really like a dream as I'm convinced that I'm awake.
Luckily it doesn't happen that often, or I'd have to give up my mornings in bed!
