I had a snooze at about 5 this afternoon woke up feeling pinned down with what I thought was someone whispering stuff into my ear. Of course when I came to properly there was no one pinning me down. Anyone else have this? i think I have real sleep problems because I talk alot in my sleep and act out dreams, often on waking or just falling asleep, I wake myself up feeling like I am falling or catching imaginary objects.

As strange as this, its not the first time, unlike agreeing with Legend on another thread and him making me laugh on another.

You are suffering from a phenomenon known as 'sleep paralysis'.
As well as feeling pinned down, unable to move, you can also get hallucinations. You are dreaming you are awake, and experiencing strange things.
It is scary, but quite normal.

The falling sensation is very common - most people experience it during their lifetime. It is called hypnagogic myoclonic twitch, and nobody is really sure why it happens. One theory is that your muscles relax into sleep and your brain interprets it as falling over.

Talking and acting out dreams is also normal behaviour. Provided you are not feeling tired and sleepy during the day and functioning normally, then you have nothing to worry about.
Hi there Goodsoulette dont worry I also have those "dreams" or what ever you call them. Horrible aren't they.? Only thing with me is that I am so tired in the day and feel like I could do with a good nights sleep. Brenda

I am really tired at the moment though Ethel. I cant stop sleeping in the day. Yet I can still sleep for 10 hours at night, its really unlike me, I noramlly sleep very little.
Hi there goodsoulette this is a very normal think to happen about being pinned down your apparentley are just coming out of a state of a dream and you cannot move as you feel like you are parelized (scuse spelling) and you try so much to fight against it and try to shout out but the words just will not come out and you cannot move can you as I and so many others have experianxed this
Dont worry it is quite normal for us meer humans and let us know a bit more about this
And sorry do not wish to be rude but how old are you and how long has this been happening for and has anything in your life changed a lot lately
ethell is so right here I have it sometimes as well but have dealt with it and got over it (well almost sometimes it rears its little ugley head every now and again but only once in a blue moon)

the shouting, crying telling people off in my sleep has happened since my teens, Im 28 now. I used to get the pinning down thing late teens, and had a few episodes in my early 20s but this has been happening again, probably 5 or 6 times in the last 2 months, normally in the middle of the night not in an afternoon zzzzzzzzzzz!

Well, no not really, life is pretty for me at the moment. Maybe lack of drama lol
Not quite sure what you meant about this dream goodsoulette from reading betweening the lines that you have said think that you have a lack of drama in your life at the moment so are you trying to get some drama back in your life as in your dreams or anywhere else
Sorry goodsoulette but this justs goes back to your childhood as you well know so if you want to talk on here just let us all know

Going back a few weeks goody, you are quite right. Cannabis smoking and other drugs are not bad for you at all, and have no ill side effects whatsoever.

well why have the night terrors etc been happening before I smoked pot. I think it must be related to key lime pie as it coincides with the time I started eating that regularly.
Goodsoulette, I have had this experience many times, not pleasant. Usually it happens in times of stress which is a double whammy. But you say all is ok at the moment, maybe it is the pies!
Hi Goodsoulette, hope you`re gonna be ok for Sunday?Hows your foot?
