Two wrongs do not make a right. However, looking at the poor cat below and the incessant chav and thug culture many English towns have befallen to from both our children and imported ones, would you turn a blind eye to vigilantism.

Would an "A Team" like operation to combat such things as opposed to our pathetic Police Force dealing with it in their touchy touchy politically correct manner work. Or would communities loathe such involvement by non-crown officials?

well even though I'd like to ring the little scritters necks, its just lowering yourself to what they have done and showing them its ok to be a thug. It isnt needed, these kids need help and something to do with their time
all i know is that something needs to change - i dont know what...The police force seem to have no authority or power at all.

People need to be scared of possible consequences and there arent any to be scared of.

It would only be people who were involved in 'bad' and ileagal activities that would resent such authorites that you mention - and so they should. Most law abiding people i imagine wouldnt mind - they would have no involvement with them as they wouldnt be doing anything wrong.

People shouldnt have to eorry about walking down the street in case the yare mugged, raped, stabbed, intimidated. Peopel should not have to worry everythime they let their pets outside...its disgusting.

Something needs to be done - this country is going downhill fast - the scary thing is, its only going to get worse.
Sort of agree with you there wardy, however what happens when the A Team target the wrong person or persons?
I agree. Im 18 and I think kids of today are disgusting vile little *****! I got mugged by a boy probably round my age Monday! Very scary! :-(

Booster girl, I was trying to ask a question for debate. Are my own beliefs that obvious!!!! Damn.

Mistakes happen, as simple as that. We are only human. but with a decent recce of the locale, it should be easy.

I would command 3 others (Call me Col. Hannibal) for say 2k a day. If a whole street clubbed together, that is peanuts.
Good question Joe, and it's actually one I've given some thought to but I don't think it would be a good deterant, too many people would get hurt and who would police the vigilanties? I'm sure the law currently favours the criminal at the moment in revenge attacks though. Perhaps the Police need better ways of making people admit their crimes and then there would be no need for revenge attacks in the first place. I would suggest watching Hot Fuzz if you haven't seen it yet, there are some similar themes running through that and it's a really funny film!
There is always the danger that these vigilantes get carried away with their own power and end up as dangerous as the people they're supposed to be protecting us from. Then what? Set up another vigilante group to deal with them?
Also ,I don't think the scum would take it lying down. They would want to fight back. Gun culture is already on the increase,it may rise even more if gangs see it as their best defence.
I agree something has to be done. I would say cut their Benefits, but that doesn't just affect them but their kids as well and growing up in poverty isn't going to improve their chances of becoming responsible members of society.
Wish I had the answer!

I think it happens anyway. If someone does something bad to me....something worse will happen to them.
