My house is haunted. It happens very rarely and when I least expect it. I have a ghost that basically tucks me in and rocks me to sleep. It sort of pats down my duvet around me then very gently rocks me for about 5 minutes. It scares me senseless at the time but the next day I always feel a kind of reassurance from it.
I saw the spirit of my father standing at the end of my bed, I was away staying with relatives during the time he was in hospital, he was very ill, I was 9 years old at the time, when I returned home I was told that he had died at that time he appeared at the end of my bed, he also spoke to me letting me know 'he was alright now'.
*arm twisting* Ok, here goes, with nightmares to come, gulp..
I lived and worked in a pub a few years ago, and never would have gone there if I'd heard any of the rumours floating about amongst the regulars. Once there, and too late to leave, I managed to convince myself that it was all p****ed up locals scaring each other, because it's the one thing I am genuinely terrified of. I lived there for about 18 months and in that time there were a few things that I STILL managed to explain away each time:
I'd cooked a meal and it was on the stove waiting for later on. Went up later to reheat it (hours later) and the gas was back on and dinner was ready..
Video turned itself on and taped something. I went downstairs to ask bf what he wanted to see, he said nothing. Went back up, video was off.
New cellarman had a bag of corks and spiles thrown across the room at him. Noone else was anywhere in the downstairs with him.

contd. A barrel of Guinness ran out (I wasn't there by this time!) and an ex-pub landlady friend of mine helped out the bar staff and changed it for them. About 6 pints later, barrel went again and she checked - it was totally empty. (She knows a full one from an empty one!!) No leakages anywhere either.
Best of all - we were unceremoniously dumped by a new landlord who had plans to move in upstairs. The same friend of mine kept me posted on all the goss, and how much the locals didn't like him. One afternoon, he came down into the pub and asked her if she believed in ghosts. She said "have you seen her then?" he said, "what do you mean 'her'? Did you know there was a ghost?" My friend laughed and told him about the rumours, of which he knew nothing until that moment. It turned out the ghost had gone down the stairs in front of him, frightened him to death, and as a result he never moved in and sold the pub shortly afterwards.
Lastly, Channel 4 made a programme about the pub which I was in, briefly. I missed it when it was on, but a friend taped it and lent me the tape and it was blank. Years later, I started a new job, someone recognised me from the programme (what are THOSE odds??!!) and said he had it on tape still because it was local interest. Lent me the tape - that one was blank too. And HE had watched it more than once so he knew it had been there.
I like to think she was very real, knew I was terrified and was just a bit mischievous to me and bf, but appeared to the guy everyone disliked to get rid of him. I think there's more, but I'm trying to think back. Someone is bound to discredit me, but I'm utterly convinced she lived there too.....

A new house bought by my ex husband and I was I think 'haunted' - taps used to turn on at all times in the night, scalding hot water coming out of both hot and cold taps, the taps were turned on fully ! Also one morning we awoke to find the floor around our double bed and also the bedside tables covered in an orange coloured jelly ! No joke....it was awful...really weird, and when I went to get something to mop it up with, it had all disappeared ! No we had not been on drugs!
Oh no, all these stories seem to involve being in bed so now I'm having to stay up til Mr nutgone is ready for bed so I'm not on my own upstairs. AND he'll be up for hours!

A friend of mine strongly believes in ghosts/spirits - each time we are at her house, a certain table lamp in her lounge starts to flicker on and off, and she always says its her late mother saying 'hello'....personaly I always have believed in ghosts - and it doesnt scare me, it fascinates me immensely!!! Great experiences from this thread thus far.....more, more, more....
Not personally but my other half has ..the farmhouse where he works is haunted .. and some strange things have happened ..he's called "Harold" by all the staff ,he/she has pinned my other half down, turned lights on and off ,but it had a girls voice ,long before girls stayed there.. think my Mum has found out the history of it ..will let you know :o)
