I have a legal .22 air rifle which i've just been given by a friend. I'd like to have a muck about with it in my back garden (target practice).

Are there any laws relating to people using these guns in their own back garden as long as everything is above board ie no noise nusence, not hurting animals or people etc.

Our garden backs on to a primary school so i would never use it any time anyone was in the school.

Thanks in advance

You can shoot within the boundary of your own property, so long as you are not within 50ft of the centre of a public highway.

You can shoot 'quarry' in your back garden - magpies, crows, rooks, woodpigeons, collared doves, feral pigeons, jays, GREY squirrels, rabbits, rats and mink.

why dont you go to a gun club and use the targets there where its safer for all around
and the club would keep you right on the laws governing the firearms regulations
