I've just eaten a whole tub of olive houmous and then realised that it's 550 calories and 49.4g of fat!

How can something so healthy be so fattening? Do you think God got it wrong and actually houmous, avocados and bananas etc. are fattening and cake, crisps and lard etc. is better for you?

I'm going to have to go for a cycle ride until midnight to burn this lot off now. ):o(

I just had some houmous too (not a whole tub though) for my lunch

If I'm going to have the calories I would rather have some crisps or chips!
it certainly is double cream thedelbwa :D

Maybe it was good fat. Gillian McKeith is always going on about good fat!!!lol.x
Ah, I like your thinking, Champers!

So, I shouldn't have felt bad for stealing a spoon and finishing my tub of Ben & Jerry's Caramel Chew-Chew on the car journey home from my weekend away... at 11am?

There is nothing in the world to merit the existence of avocado's. God was taking the pee.

If the tub was 1,500g, then 49.4g of fat isn't too much. In fact, you might eed a Mars Bar (deepf ried optional) to top yourself up before you waist away.

Octavius, I think you need to use a spel chocker, mate!

It is good fat. Amino Acids (good fat) can be found in the likes of chick peas, avocado, bananas and other natural 'energy' foods. Fatty Acids (bad fat) include crisps, cake, beef dripping, deep fried mars bars and beef dripping on crisps on cake etc. The difference is that your body can utilise the amino acids whereas fatty acid head straight for the ar$e and spread from there. I'll still be on the bike tonight though. Possibly eating that mars bar as I'm cycling...
I'm eating a tub of hummus and a bowl of olives as I type (one handed!) but I don't feel too bad as I ran the Liverpool half marathon on Sunday. Ouch! Maybe I should leave the chocolate bar alone though.
Katie77 has given the only truthful answer and the poor sausage didn't get any stars!!!

As much as i despise Gillian McKeith, she is right there are good fats and there are bad fats.

Good 'uns are basically non-animal ones which are not saturated.

That is why Greece, Spain and Italy have a much lower obesity rate than the Brits yet use Olive Oil in everything.

well im trying to eat the half eaten stuff in my fridge as i'm going away tomorrow

so far

bacon sarnie
big bowl veg/salad (inc advocado)
a lot of cheese!

and i'm currently dipping bread sticks into tapanade and taramsalata

i might be sick soon

And now i'm not giving you any stars Wardy because of your impertinence!
I never wet myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh sorry that is incontinence, my mistake.
Amino acids are actually protein, fat is a triglyceride made of glycerol and fatty acids.
I've never had houmous before, but because of Fern Brittens ryvita ad where she puts red pepper houmous on one, I've just got back from Tesco with 2 tubs of the stuff !
Felt extremely virtuous about it til I read this !!

Choccy biccy anyone ?
Aaaah, Yeaaaah buuuut ....Champers the secret lies in low GI foods, which chick peas are supposed to be. I may be wrong but I believe that humous contains a large amount of oil to ensure its consistency. Eat them in their raw form and they are good apparently. I don't believe anything any more !!
Gastric bypass is the only way - according to TV right now !!
