For the last 3 weeks I have been suffering with a pain in my leg, kinda right behind my left knee! At first I thought it was cramp, but for three weeks!.... It hurts when I sleep, when I move about, it doesn't matter (I not an athelete or anything so it can't be exercise). I have got an appointment to see my Doctor for Friday, but anyone got any ideas of what could be causing this? My friend at work who had Deep Vein Thrombosis, has got me worried ;-) .... and yes I do smoke!

Hi Nellie, my neice is 26 & had been complaining of pains in her calf. She was recently diagnosed with DVT & has been given the blood thinning medication Warfarin. I was under the impression that the symtoms of DVT is pain in the calf area, so if your pain is in the knee, it's highly unlikely you have it, although I'm not a GP! Good luck with your appointment & try not to worry.

Thanks Smudge, although I did forget to mention that the pain kinda spreads down my calf up sometims slightly up my thigh, but having said this, there is no swelling, (not that I can tell).
It may be something as simple as a strained ligament - you can do that in your sleep, and be unaware of it until you wake. It's more likely that than a DVT, so don't panic - your GP will put your mind at rest,
Nelli, it sounds like arthritis, hubby has it and symptoms are similar, for your sake hope it's not because if it is it doesn't go away! Do let us know how you get on at the Drs. LOL
How did you get on at the Doc's nelli?
Bit of a long shot after so long . But your symptons above are exactly the same as what i have . Been to doctors but only given pain relief. Obviously by now your problem will have been resolved , could you shed any light on what was wrong. many tks
