I've recently got a little nostalic and aqcuired a sega megadrive. All fine and dandy except I can't get it to work. Yes I have turned it on and even enlisted the help of my husband & kids but so far no success. I don't have a manual for the console and it was sold as working. I have got al the leads etc. I dont seem to remember it being this problematic when I had the original! Any ideas??

It's a pretty straight forward bit of kit really....power adaptor goes in rear and co-ax cable to TV comes out and that's it for wiring really....You should have a small red LED on the front of the console to indicate if it is getting power...You should be booting it up with a game cartridge installed along with at least one controller....If none of this seems to work then I'd be tempted to return it and not fiddle about with it.
You have to "tune" a channel of yer telly to pick up the signal from console as well.

Thanks for that - the console seems to be getting power but no luck in tuning it in to a channel. Himself got hold of a scart lead but that didn't help. GRRRRR!
A scart lead for a sega? Thats different. If you're using a scart then it will be 'tuned in' on one of your AV channels. If you are using the standard one it comes with that replaces your normal airel (can't spell :-p) then you will need to fiddle with the tuning of one of your unused channels on the TV, make sure it is on with a game when you try and tune.
