What happens if you keep it in over a long period of time... for instance, I deteste going to the loo at work. I feel REALLY bloated and I know I need the toilet, but I would normally just hold it until I get home at approx. 6pm tonight.

What are the dangers of doing this on a regular basis?

Many thanks!

Are we talking urine? If so, if you keep doing that you'l end up with Kidney problems or an infection you pee to get all of the toxins out of your system and if you keep them in there for hours, where do you think they will go?
hmm i thought it was the other jenna was on about lol

if so i can honestly say i never go anywhere apart from my own loo lol

dunno what the dangers would be though cept really bad tummy ache
sorry i meant jeanette..doh
Are you talking number 1s or number 2s.

I don't see how you can hold either of them in - what's wrong with your loo at work? The pain in your tummy if its a wee you need must be awful - and quite frankly if you get to the point of number 2s where the tortoise head is poking out - get in that bog quickly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I dont know the dangers but i wont go for a number 2 at work either. i will either wait til i get home, or go to a public loo in my break! I dont want the people i work with going in the loo after me and thinking....urrggghhhh!!!
I only go for a 2 at home. number 1s i will go but if i can i hold it in for a while.
If im in a situation where i dont want to be rushing to the loo i watch what i drink, i know its unhealthy. For instance i have been on a flight to the USA (minimum 9 hours) 6 times and as yet i have never been for a wee on a plane.
Planes do hydrate you though redcrx - and its also the thought of being sucked out through the loo into oblivion that puts me off that one!!! There always seems to be a loud sucking noise from plane loos!!!!!!!!!!
lol athley, for me its the thought of walking past everyone on the plane and them knowing where im going and what im going for.
I cant go for a wee if theres no lock on the door
regularly supressing the 'urge' can lead to a weakening of that urge, leading to constipation and all associated discomfort. also bear in mind that poo is waste product and full of toxins which can be reabsorbed back into the body. i am convinced that this is the origin of the phrase 'i feel like $hit'
I always drop the kids off at the pool at work, that way I get paid for it and I don't have to buy loo roll as often. Who cares who hears you, after all it's a poor @rse that never rejoices! Wayhey! Plop.

People are so funny!!!!

I mean a no.2... the only one's I'll use in a public place is if there are no gaps in the doors or walls... and our toilets aren't like that... plus, all the people going in and out... what if they hear? I always flush the toilet first if someone comes in during a 'wee' anyway...

I'm going to skip lunch now though as I'm way too bloated... must be the cashew nuts I had for my snack.

Too right Skreecheeboy. I like to have my little routines, and between 10am and 11am, I'll always scuttle off to the work bogs for 10 minutes of being paid to sit on the bog. My flatmate must do the same as we went for a week with no loo roll in the flat just recently.
jeanette - if there are little holes in your toilet doors be afraid be very afraid!!!!!!!!

ps cashew nuts will bung you up for days you may as well shove the pack straight up your bum as a cork!!! :o)
I can't believe I'm reading these posts!! :-) I think it's mad that anyone would consider 'holding anything in' because of what someone else might think. If you're worried about the smell, take some air freshener to work. If you're worried about the sound (f@rting) then wait till no one else is in the room. If you're worried about the plopping (sorry to be graphic) pop some loo roll in the toilet first. It muffles it. If you're worried about germs, take some antiseptic wipes. Why on earth would you risk your health over this???
Speak up Brown, you're through!!!! Aye Captain!

Hahahaha, very interesting.... thanks all and by the way, Sacha, you have VERY valid points..... but as Jim Morrison of The Doors fame said, 'People are strange....'
True true, but isn't that what makes life interesting?! I never imagined in my wildest dreams that some guys would do a number 1 sitting down (by choice) until I met my ex, but there you go!
Sorry Sacha but that's just weird.
