HI, any advise?? my little girl in 14 months old, she has always had colic and i have tried every over the counter remedy possible, she is a very poor sleeper and will often wake an hour or so aftershe has been put down, even though she is so tierd! she wakes screaming with rigid legs and you can actually feel the wind in her tummy. She has always suffered from very loose stools and sometimes explosive.... and her passing wind is so lound and potent she sounds like a man! ( sorry to be sexist guys!) i have had no help from my GP, any one please give me some advise! x

could possibly be her diet, have you been to see a diatician about your little girl?

sorry to hear your gp is not very helpful, perhaps get another doctor, or see your health visitor/ to to the folks at your local baby clinic.

hope you get it sorted soon.

thanks for your response, i have done my own research and think that it maybe a lactose or dairy intolerance, so i am actively searching for a dietitian to see privately. ill let you knw how we get on, again thanks for you email xx
Try cutting out all dairy produce from her diet, and substitue soya milk for cow's milk, and see if that improves things.

yeah im going to start as from tomorrow i think, as i seem to be chasing my own tail getting any GP to listen. she is also always ill and barely goes 2 weeks without a cold or cough, does anyone know if this too could be diet related?
If your little one's digestive system is occupied fending off something which upsets it, this takes energy away from the rest of the body, the imune system weakens, and infections take hold more easily.

Give her a couple of sdays without dairy produce, and if you get no joy, take her to your GP and ask to be referred for tests. If he / she refuses, simply arrive at your local Accident Unit when your surgery is closed - they take obviously ill babies very seriously and will start the testing process there for her.

Poor little soul - good luck.

thank you very much really appreciate your answer, i am literally at that point now, i have an appointment with the GP tomorrow, and if no look ill be at A&E tomorrow! its a shame you have to be so drastic to help you child, ill keep you posted, again thanks for your advise and concern regards Gemma and baby Phoebe x
Hi Gemma my baby Phoebe (who is 16 in March!) had exactly the same problem. Colic from a few weeks old when I was breastfeeding. My sister is a dietician and had read some scandanavian research about cows milk intolerance and breast feeding mothers going on a cows milk and beef protien free diet. 16 years ago milk free wasn't labelled so it took a bit of work to feel like you were eating normal, theres cheese in tins of heinz spaghetti! anyway, it totally worked, to the point where the health visitors wanted my literature to give to other mothers in similar circumstances. I think eggs are also a culprit for some people (my youngest daughter) But to reassure you Phoebe began to eat a normal diet from a toddler age, I think she wet the bed on a night longer than she should have (also a symptom in ) intolerance symptoms can change with age. But nothing worth the pain of refusing her chocolate. Good Luck
