The way I always think of it is that an Atheist is sure there is no god, whilst an Agnostic isn't sure, but thinks there probably isn't
Atheism is the refusal to believe in one God or any other gods. Agnosticism is the belief that it is impossible to prove or disprove the existence of God.
Atheists have the courage of their convicitons, agnostics like to hedge their bets!
