katie~77 our anyone else out there i'm stuck on this question ,in seeking client's consent where medication is concerned, the carer needs to have precise knoledge of the three items listed below ,explain what information your client may require for each a)the nature of the medication b)what it is given for and c)how it is given also this question ,identify three other questions a client may ask ,many thanks

1. Can I chew this tablet?
2. what are the side effects?
3. What if I forget to take them?
4. Will it help me to sleep?
5. Will it make me drowsy?
6. will it give me diarrhea?
7. will it make me constipated?
8. Do I need to take it before or after a meal, with water?
9. will this affect my other medication?
To follow from Ratter's extensive list, you also need to know if client has swallowing difficulties as this will affect how medication is given.

Found it.
a. What the medicine is, what it is for. Are there any side effects.
b.Explain why it has been given. ie. Chest infection etc...
c.Show the client the medication and explain what form it is in. ie. tablet,syrup, etc...

Q's a client may ask: -
Why this medication?
Why not another medication?
Why did the doctor give me this?
How long am I going to have to take this?
What is wrong with me?
Do I need this?
