A friend of mine who's a migraine sufferer takes the mini-pill (the type you take continuously, rather than have a 7 day break) without problems. Previously, she had taken the combined pill (which has two hormones - oestrogen and prostregon) but this aggravated her migraines, so her GP advised she switched to the mini pill.I don't think the combined pill is actually dangerous to migraine sufferers, in that I don't think it has the potential to cause physical harm over and above the risks posed to non-migraine sufferers. My friend takes tablets on a daily basis to prevent her migraines, so not sure if this medication causes any problems with the combined pill?
I thought bad headaches were a form of contraception?
Now a sensible answer: I suffer from migraines sometimes too and was on the pill for years. I didn't notice much of a difference in intensity or frequency of the migraines when I stopped taking the pill, so I can only assume that it did not make much of a difference. (Though some AB regulars might say it definately affected my brain...!)
