Are you extracting the urine?? Angels!!!
errrr, NO
i find this in the same line as addiction!

some people NEED to believe in angels to make thier pointless life worthwhile??

we have got some EX-addicts around the corner from me who have taken up the new born christian church to guide them in life??
I do. Because I have been in sticky situations and found things always turn up and help.

My main story, I was in Egypt & had some money stolen from my bumbag. I did not have enough money to get back to Israel where I was working & eventually flying home from.

I went to the Cairo bus station and tried to buy a ticket but I was short of money. I can't quite remember the conversation I had with the ticket seller but I left and began to cry and sat down. A man who was behind me in the queue came & sat by me & asked what was wrong, I just said "nothing" because I did not want to get into a conversation with a strange man while vulnerable. Things may have been misconstrued.

He then told me he was a woman, but who cut all her hair off and wore a boiler suit as to not be a woman in Egypt. She lived in Sinai and was just waiting for her return bus. She gave me the money for a bus fare. I went back to the hostel and counted it and it had 10e extra which I used to go to the Egyptian Museum and see Tutankhamen etc. It was amazing as I would not have spoken to her had she not been a man and the money she gave me was so much for an Egyptian person. I would love to find her again. She lived in Sharm El Shek. She was definately an angel taht day.
karmha.......jedi

Jedi, some people are happy to do favours still, there are still some genuine people in the world, hardly an Angel though!!

Bit of a mixed bag then, lol.

I'm sitting on the fence with this one. I'm definitely not a druggie and I haven't seen anything to make me believe, but I'm willing to keep an open mind.

Perhaps those of you that are definitely sure that they don't exist have some proof that you're not sharing with us. Or maybe your lives are so magical anyway, that you don't need any help. Who knows?
For those that are definitely sure that they do exist....can you post some evidence please

Isn't it funny how everyone gets on their high horses because we all believe in different things. Like I said I don't believe or disbelieve, just willing to accept whatever life offers with an open mind.

Perhaps some people just cannot accept anything out of the ordinary. To many people, life is black and white, with nothing in between. It would be interesting to know what makes people this way.
LoL Chicklin.

No, I do not believe in Angels in the sense that I think they are meant here, although I do believe in Angels as represented by the one in JediMistress' story.

Taz.... one can have a satisfying, fullfilling life that is full of awe and amazement at the wonders of the natural world, without ascribing said wonders to the work of some paranormal, supernatural and/or alien being. Nor do I see the world in "black and white".. indeed, most sceptics that I know are almost always likely to see more shades of grey than any believer I have met.

When considering claims of the divine, or the paranormal, or the supernatural, or visiting aliens, or incredible health cures running counter to conventional theory, fairies at the bottom of the garden for that matter, I think that one should always bear in mind the mantra " extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof".... and an argument from personal experience should never be considered proof of anything for a wider audience, even if you yourself are convinced.

Rather ironically, in the context of this post, one of my old schoolfriends is actually a major figure and author in this area.
Question Author
LazyGun - it's not Jacky Newcomb is it? The old school friend? I've read a couple of her books, lol.

As I said, I have no personal experience so I cannot say if they exist or not. To categorically state that they do not exist, just because of personal belief, is calling millions of people who have seen paranormal or spiritual activity, liars, basically. Why would these people lie? Surely they can't all be hallucinating?

Definitely an interesting subject. I just don't see the need to attack people because of their beliefs. Not just in this instance, but in everything else that people are going to disagree on. Why can't everyone be allowed to believe what they want?
Question Author
I think that I've read somewhere that angels sometimes appear disguised as humans. Apparently, we would not be frightened if they appear to us as familiar as possible.

Who knows? Hopefully, I'll never be in the situation where I need help desperately. If I ever am, I'll be willing to take help wherever I can, human or otherwise, and I would like to think that I would be able to offer help to anybody who needs it.
Who is attacking who

People are expressing opinion, I didn't read any attacks
Question Author
I didn't mean attacking me. Rugeleyboy seemed to be attacking ex-druggies. I have never taken drugs in my life, but can try to empathise with those that have and those that have tried to lead a better life. Just didn't see the need to attack them. Not every ex-druggie is the scum of the earth and I'm sure that they have all turned to drugs for different reasons.

If they now want to follow a religious path, that's up to them. Just don't diss them for it.
Question Author
Apparently, druggies lead pointless lives. Millions of celebrities, models, etc are all pointless then, and they all believe in angels, lol.
Taz.... no sceptic worth their salt would state categorically that something doesn't exist in an area like this. What you can say is that such things are extremely, highly improbable, and require a great deal of objective evidence to support them.

The author in question is indeed the one you mention :)

No, I wouldn't call all people who believe in them liars.... but it has been shown that memory can play tricks, that wishful thinking can colour and lnfluence peoples recollection of events etc. As to the "millions" (what are you basing that figure on?) of people who allegedly have seen something... what about the billions who haven't?

Once again... I am not saying that you shouldn't believe... I am saying that you should apply some rational thought and look for objective evidence before doing so.

Nor am I attacking people... I don't initiate posts suggesting that non sceptics are fools or whatever... but I do will challenge posts supporting a paranormal, pseudoscientific, divine intervention or supernatural cause for anything, unless it is backed up with a credible hypothesis and some objective evidence.
