Hi Wizzer,
I hope you can sort things out with your partner.
But on the food stuff..
Breakfast is hard if you don't like eating in the mornings, but you could just have some orange juice and fruit, or maybe a cereal bar.
If you are going to eat Ryvita then try the multigrain or sesame varities, they are quite tasty.
It doesn't matter if you don't like many vegetables, just eat the ones you do like. And experiment a bit with different salad things, you might find something you like, try rocket leaves instead of lettuce for eg. Its a bit spicy you might like that better.
And don't try to give up all junk food, you will feel deprived and probably crave it more.
A little of what you fancy and all that.....
all things in moderation, Wizzer and you should be OK.
Good luck with everything.
Flo x
Hey Wizzer, Glad things seem to be ok at the moment. I too have tastebuds that adore junk food but you just have to learn to resist. With the salad thing, just eat it. I hated it too but then decided I wanted to be healthy so started eating it nearly every day for lunch. The first week i had to force it down but once I got through that I just kept eating it. And ended up going down nearly two dress sizes!! Just think why you're doing it annd you'll get through it!! Mind you, I still have a problem with veg!! Some of it is so horrible I just won't eat it!! Good luck hun xx

Oh and brekkie is v.important so keep at it - along with the water!!!
Wizzer.. I am like you, I hate salad. I do like things like coleslaw tho and I make my own. Bit of white cabbage, red onions, pineapple and apple pieces in very light mayo and I eat that instead of veg with my meals and it is lovely.
Don't give up bread completely, just eliminate it from 2 meals and switch to a whole grain (not white, that's like poison), also drink a pint of water before every meal (makes you feel full and is very good for you). If you hate veg disguise it in homemeade soups and stews and like floella says give yourself a "forgiveness" meal once a week where you eat what you fancy.
Some fruit juices can be very calorie high, so steady on a lot of those, and eventually your body will get used to eating breakfast (mine did, took 3 or 4 weeks though).
The big problem with dieting for you is that nearly everything that's "diet" is full of aspartame. You want to avoid that like the plague. Google it, it's 100% banned in our house, nothing of it ever touches our lips and it's in all sorts of things.
I've been eating healthily for 10 years now after an 8 year lapse and my weight never varies really much over 4 or 5 lbs. Excercise too, walk everywhere you can, play with your kids, doesn't have to be treadmill and boring, although I enjoy running. Never make yourself feel ill with excercise ( and it's quite possible to), just steady and manageable and you'll gently re-educate your body to things that are better for it and it'll all be quite tolerable. Good luck.
I found making little things have stuck with me such as switching to skimmed milk, sweetners instead of sugar (though the dreaded aspartame lovely Nox mentioned), and that low cal oil spray stuff, wholegrain bread and never occurs to me to buy anything else now.

If you do to much at one time you may just go straight back, introduce little things which will stick with you without you thinking about it, applies to exercise too such as walking to a further bus stop each morning (I ended up walking about 4/5 back).

I find a nice glass of water, orange juice or other fruit juice or make your own smoothies is a good way to start the day as it makes you feel healthier and fresher whereas coffee and such can just drag you down. As Nox said watch the high calorie ones.

Have you tried Matzos, i love them either big size of little ones also by Dr Razkusen, lovely with a little bit of spread and marmite. Pitta breads too, you can get them in wholemeal.

Listen to your body, only eat if you're hungry and stop when you're full. Often dehydration is mistaken for hunger as your brain confuses the signals so keep up the fluid intake. You don't have to eat just because society has trained you to eat at certain times and you don't have to eat everything on your plate.

I find grapes are great picking/snack food or something like cherry tomatoes and easy to have around.

A George Forman grill is great for all sorts of things as is a blender for soups and juices and such and a fish and or veg steamer. How about not so obvious veg such as sweetcorn or making heathlier dishes of "fast food" eg fresh fish with peas or homemade lean burgers, make your own healthier version pizza with fresh tomato topping and peppers and mushrooms and such. Maybe a breadmaker too, discover how lovely it can be to make your own fresh healthy food.

Also discover your local butcher, fishmonger and greengrocer. Ask for their tips on cooking and cuts and try things you haven't before that you may love such as asparagus, sweet potato, mange tout/sugar snap peas, exotic fruits.

Watch your portion sizes too as that can be an issue.

Is there a sport or something you've always fancied that you'd enjoy with the fitness aspect being an aside? Something like martial arts or joining a local football team or something you can do with your kids such as swimming or playing fottie in the park.
Sorry, meant to say about brekkie.

How about making your own porridge, I add lots of fresh sultanas or branflakes with sultanas and sunflower seeds.

Eggs are another possibility and can be scrambled easily in the microwave. Turkey bacon is another healthier alternative to real bacon.

Weetabix is also good and fresh yoghurt and fruit such as raspberries.
