male eating disorder please help me i beg you.

I have admitted to myself and my partner that i have an eating disorder. I binge eat I cannot control it. It came out lastnight when we were talking about our future i broke down and admitted that i cant stop eating. I go from not eating anything to eating loads. I think nothing of eating a 24 pack of walkers crisps in one go. (I know alot will be disgusted by what i say but i need help) I can eat the crisps and still not feel full. I eat when i dont feel hungry, I eat just for the sake of eating, I want to stop its gonna end up costing me my relationship. My partner has nightmares about waking up and finding me dead beside her. I'm 27 stone and I am in pretty good health apart from the weight. At times i feel invinsible and that i'm never going to die so i can do whatever i want to. I have said i'm going to lose weight so many times and failed, I want to get better, I want to see my children grow up, I want to spend the rest of my life with Pam. I dont know what to do. I have made an appointment to see the doctor today @ 3.30pm. I am also depressed which doesnt help but that aint gonna end my relationship this eating disorder will. I dont want my children to go visit their dad at a grave. This is one of the hardest things i have wrote. I am begging for your help. Ultimatly i have to do this myself with professional help but if anyone can give me any advise please do. I live in Ireland and their isnt as much help over here than in England.

Without meaning to sound rude or hurtful, have you considered a gastric bypass operation? (I ask mainly because I thought that with if you were eligable and had one of those then it would be physically impossible for you to eat that much.)
I found Paul Mckenna's 'I can make you thin' book and CD really helped me to make sense of why I was overeating. I am following it now and I feel so much better about myself and the weight is coming off too. Its not a diet. When you listen to what he says it all makes perfect sense. So I would say give him a try and see how you go. Good luck!

I have enquired about the gastric bypass operation, I am on a waiting list of atleast 5 years, I'm scared that i will be dead in 5 years.
Please don�t despair, mnko. You have now made the biggest step on the road to recovery by admitting this is a problem. Your problem is mental rather than physical, so you really ought to seek the appropriate professional advice to improve the way your mind thinks about yourself and your body. You should also see a dietician. I am sure you know the basics about healthy diet and exercise, but you will need motivating now. Now that you have spoken to Pam about this, make more positive steps by enrolling her help and support. With regard to your diet you do need to start now as 27 stone is very overweight. I�m even concerned about that and I�ve never met you! I�m not going to tell you that this is going to be easy because it�s not. But if you take it on as a real challenge then you�ll be fine. Just make sure you are determined to better yourself. Self-improvement is one of the most admirable traits around. xxx
i cant offer any advice on how to lose the weight but just want to say that there will be many on here willing to offer their support and encouragement.
Really the starting point for this is your own will power and wish to succeed.

one of the first steps in any problem is firstly admitting you have a problem - which you have.
I am sure your GP will give you some help.
There are lots of online help to - i dont know any links sorry but google should help you.
Good luck with it all you are on the first step to sorting it out.
It's gonna be hard which ever root you take.....Can you stick to an eating plan at all? If so, don't be defeated if you have a bad day.

Lot's of people fall off the wagon as such....but tomorrow is always a new day

Yes you have admitted you have a problem and that is a major step in the right direction.See what your doctor says initially and take it from there.Do you eat out of boredom? Too much time on your hands in the day?We are all here to support you in what ever way we can.Big hugs to you xx
I can't offer any real practical advice but i would just like to say that by admitting you have a problem is the first step, well done.
Speak to your doctor and be perfectly honest. hopefully they will be able to find the underlying cause for your over eating.
What ever you do don't give up. If something doesn't work just think, well itried that now i'll try something else.
I'm sure that if your partner sees that you are trying to get help they will support you all the way.

Hi mnko. Good for you, as the good people here have already stated, realising you have a problem is the biggest step. I hope you get all the help you need. Can I just ask you, was there a reason you started to binge? A lot of eating disorders ar triggered by some specific event and it may be that talking this through with a professional might help you. Your story has really moved me like many others on here who have posted a reply.

your situation is only going to improve with the help of professionals. listen to your doctors advice and be open minded. there is going to be no quick fix but you can have a better life, you can make it happen.

if you feel your doctor is not understanding the seriousness of your situation asked to be reffered to another doctor. jus dont stop fighting.

my parents divorce, my best friend drowning in from of me. being physically abused by my father, being bullied for being a little overweight in school. my mother walking out on me and my sisters. it has all contributed to this. I find comfort in food.

First of all mnko well done for admitting it and realising you have a serious problem, I had anorexia as a teenager and have had an unhealthy relationship with food my whole life, either eating nothing and then binge eating and eating everything in site and then starving myself because I feel guilty.. Champagne is right its psychological, and as you know when you are feeling down its much worse if you are anything like me. Im glad you have the doctors today, be honest with them and tell them how you are feeling and exactly what is going on, you can get help with it. And keep talking about it I find it can really help too. We are always here to be impartial. X
mnko, cried when I read your thread. As I did yesterday, you have done today and admitted you have a problem and you will find that the first step is now over. It seems that this is an emotional problem and there are many things that need to be addressed and the over eating is a symptom of these. Speak to your GP, not just about over eating but about your other issues as you need to have these resolved. Good luck and well done, we are all here for you.

Hi, do you still go out- shopping etc? if someone is doing the shopping for you cant they get proper food only with just a couple of what we call comfort foods...and they could make sure theirs no cash in the house that you can use to "nip to the shops" it takes an awful lot of willpower which i hope you can muster up, good luck to you and keep posting as people on here will support you mentally xx
