Underarm blues

My underarm was really itchy and I scratched it in my sleep. A lot. It is now really red and nasty. I have had this twice in a week, and I am wondering if there is actually a cause for it. I put savlon on it in case of infection, and it does hurt and feels a bit sticky (sorry).
Does it ring any bells? will go to Docs if it doesn't improve on its own, but just wondered.
Thanks!

I get this and find its down to my deodorant blocking the pores too well. I exfoliate my armpits really well now and dont get it anymore. There was no need to change my antiperspirant
i dont think it is meant to ring bells is it?
I put up with this for several years and I couldn't understand what was happening, I switched deodorants many times with the same effect. Finally in a chemist they gave me SeboMed deodorant , and I haven't itched in 3 months, can even shave again. It's brill.
i know it sounds horrible, but it may be a fungal infection.

i had one years ago, and it was as itchy as he11, drove me nuts. once i'd discovered what it was...got some cream from the doc, no bother since.

try some Canesten Hydrocortisone you can get it in any pharmacy or boots - its a bit pricey but see if that helps :-)
if you use spray on deodrant try using dove stick not roll on as it will sting. It cleared it up for me and have never gone back to a spray on.
