No, you should not mix alcohol with any medication, certainly not antibiotics. I can change the way in which the medication works by either increasing or decreasing its effect, depending on the medicine. This can be very dangerous, so please DO NOT MIX!! Be safe!
The alcohol will destroy the antibiotics, and whatever was infected will turn green and fall off.

Good luck

Thats exactly what my wife said, I hate it when she's right
Most antibiotics are just less effective, so if it's a bad infection that you want sorting, avoid them, if not it's up to you. However there is Metronidazole which is prescribed for certain types of infections and also if you are allergic to penicillin. This has the same effect as tablets known as Antabuse which are given to Alcoholics, if you drink alcohol on them apparently you will get some horrible side effects.
But if you cross your fingers whilst necking the first few pints you should be ok. What do Wives know!!
Oh dear ... the Ratter is in action again!!! Naughty boy!
Ask your pharmacist, as many antibiotics can be mixed with alochol, in moderation, just fine. Sadly, some must NEVER be mixed with alcohol. Ask your, or any, chemist and they'll give you the definitive answer. It's the most common question asked in the chemist I work in after 4pm on a Friday and Saturday.
I was reading an article in the sunday times that was saying that this was a myth that alcohol affects antibiotics but I can't remember the reason behind it!

It was something like years ago they thought there might have been a bad effect of mixing them but weren't sure so they told people not to just in case, and thats why people now think you shouldn't mix them! Some research had been done by specialists to disprove the public belief!

I'll try and find the article for more information!
