does anyone else ever have memories from their past that they wish they could re-live? i remember the good times i had with cousins and hate that the fact that those times have gone forever and that if i were to spend time with them now it would be so different as i'm married and have children. i'd love to re-live that freedom and innocence from 1990 when i last saw them. am i just sad and bored????

are you following me??????? every question i put on, you find and answer!!!!!!! lol
Yes loads. It can be quite upsetting if you dwell on them for too long. Just try and cherish them for what they are, and hope you will continue to make new ones to look back on as you get older.
Xmas, its just not the same when youre older. I used to love it, not being able to sleep, me and my little sis would wake up at 4 and have to do puzzles and look through our stocking until mum and dad would let all us children go downstairs. When we did it would be a race down the stairs to see who could get to the living room first, was usually my older brother, even when he was 16 :-) Then wed play with all our toys until xmas dinner, then before bed me and wed do a parade in our new pajamas for mum. :-)
lol 4getmenot. I remember our brother waking me (I had hangover so was not pleased) at 4am one year saying he had seen all the presents downstairs. He was bouncing on my bed. Its really cute for a kid to do that but he was 17!

Lynneylou, is something troubling you today?
Summer '76!!!

Playing out all day with my friends, jam butties sat outside (too busy to come in and eat), the tar from the cobbles on my backstreet melting and sticking to my socks and knickers, my mum yelling at me every night for tar on said socks and knickers, the icrecream van and the icecream which melted before I got back to the street. The next door neighbour having her wall pebbledashed, and I spent an entire afternoon picking the little pebbles off a huuuuuuuuuuuuge area- I got a real smacking for THAT one!

Ahhhhhh those were the days!
Yes! When I was a kid and hung out down my road with all the kids from the street. There was about 15-20 of us and we all grew up together.. playing things like Bulldog, Foxes and Hounds, 40-40, Sticky Bug or just going on our bike rides or all getting our skates on and mucking about..... or having water fights... and the only worries we had was when would our mums call us in coz its getting dark?! Those were the days. :o)
lol Boo,
I remember the tar always melting, that stuff got everywhere didnt it!
Those were the days! bottles of rose petals and water, trying to make perfume, summers always seemed long and hot, icecream vans only had 3 types of icelolly or a Mr whippy, ah what great times
why thanks xmas stars :-) did it bring back memories :-)
although now you have children it must be all fun again. I know now my nephew is around its more fun :-)
Awwww Boo thats lovely. :o)

We made perfume with Rose Petals. Buying millions of bubblegum balls from the ice cream man, and ice pops and all trekking up the shop and buying bangers and bomb bags... they exploded foam on people! Lol.
Having sleep overs and feeling grown up when we were left alone in the house with mates while mum went to the shops for bread or something!
I don't think I have ever run so fast as I did when I was a kid! I think even if someone was chasing me down the street I still wouldn't run as fast as I did during a game of Bulldog!

I remember we all used to climb onto the cable box and sit on the wall and this horrible man hated us sitting on there so he covered the wall in grease... We scrubbed it all off and carried on sitting there. Everyday he would put the grease back on and everyday we'd come out with buckets and hot water and brushes and scrub it off again. He gave up in the end... but he still lives there.
Heh Rosie, childhoods are great huh?

Remember winters too- me and my friends all lived on the same cobbled back street (think Corry!) which was very steep with another row of houses across the bottom (like an upside down T). Every winter we'd 'aquire' a sledge which would really be an old dining table (shiny side down- wheeeeeeeeeeee!) and make Greg (the poor mite!) sit at the front, lost count of the number of times he's have a bust face from smacking into the wall at he bottom.

so Greg? If my some miracle you're reading this- i'm truly sorry if you now have a face like a melted welly and you've no teeth :-(
Hahaha... Thats funny Boo....
We used to make 'Little Adam' (Yes, we had Little Adam and Big Adam) do all the things like that.... once he rode his bike first down the hill and went straight through someones front door! They then put one of those special bike gates at the bottom of the hill to spoil all the fun! They also put up 'No skating' signs on the flat paving! Kill joys!
Read a Poem by a Manx Poet called T E Brown
its called" When Childer Plays" it is absolutely beautiful and somes up childhood days, I am not sure if that is the first line it may be called "Gone Like A Puff "which refers to the short time your childhood days last. But definitely worth reading
Question Author
cant find that poem on web????
If you go to a Manx website called Feegans lounge you will find the poem it is part of a longer poem called "Betsy Lee "
You can travel forward in time but not backwards. You are mourning your youth - that is perfectly natural. In later years you will have more to mourn. Life is a graduation of loss - finalising in the loss of your own life. Get used to these hard lessons, the rollercoaster has only just begun. But never give up either, there will be plenty of good times. "There is a road that turning always / cuts off the country of Again. Archers stand there on every side / And as it runs time's deer is slain / And lies where it has lain." Travel happily.
