Ive got a 14 month old whos had a very high fever all weekend and Ive totalled up about 10 hours sleep since Friday and am shattered.
Im working from home today and even though i just want to curl up and sleep i cant because Ive got to look after him as well as work.
Any ideas how i can stay bright and keep myself feeling good and awake? Coffee is just making me shake and feel rough.

slap yourself hard in the face every 20 minutes, or work from a freezing cold bath :-)

Big lurgy kisses heading your way from your nephew mwah xx

i was already thinking of the slapping. :-)

or you could take breaks and stand outside, in the fresh air???
Try washing your face with icy water every hour or so and if you can, go for a brisk walk to the shops with him to get your adrenaline going... or even run up and down the stairs... X

great idea Jeanette, if i wasnt having to work and if it wasnt pouring then id be out with the pushchair. Not fair to take him out in the rain when he has a fever though.
The cold water on face works a bit though, thanks
give me some stars sis. And big wet kisses back to nephew xxxxx
Question Author
stars?? you advised slapping, what makes you think youll get stars???

i always feel like i should be slapped silly when i feel like that.
like when i am really hungover. not that you are hungover but you know what i mean
and usually i should be slapped when i am hungover for my behaviour the night before not just to keep me awake :-)
Thank you. Have you got any energy tablets?
any one available to look after your child just for a few hours so you could get a quick nap? or when the child having a nap today ensure you nap to.

crete,
no one here that can look after him. may partner has offered to come back from work for an hour or so but hes had the same amount of sleep as me.
Im perfectly capable of looking after little one (hes asleep at mo) but just need to feel a bit more human :)
I do feel like ive got a stinking hangover rom, awful feeling, like im just not with it.
oh poor you, you have my sympathy

x
look on the bright side . it is nearly lunch time and just imagine how good you will feel tonight to get into your nice warm cosy bed, in the meantime eat high calorie food , what about a nice hot shower a wee bit makeup and a nice comfortable outfit then a walk in the fresh air when baby wakes up.
crete lunchtime makes no difference when you have a child
Question Author
lol 4getmenot. Shes right though crete, lunchtime when looking after little one and working leaves me no actual time for myself. By the time ive got him sorted and fed, played games etc its time to get back to the office. come 5pm if weather drier and his temp down then i shall get him out for some fresh air. Hopefully that will enable him to sleep tonight and me too.
You need aunt 4getmenot for the day, he'll sleep all night :-)
