Biopsy

I have been to my local hospital with a skin condition which turns out to be chronic/incurable although benign.
The Doctor has asked me to accept a biopsy so she can be 100 per cent sure it's what she thinks. I have had the complaint for over a year now and its not uncomfortable-only having an occasional itch. The appearance is slightly embarrasing -but not easily seen as most of it is on the body.
My wife thinks I should NOT have a biopsy.
Any views on this one?
Thanking you in advance.

do you knw why your wife is saying that? if it was me, i'd like to be 100% sure of a diagnosis, and not have it lurking in the back of my mind it could be skin cancer or something. i suppose it depends wheree the biopsy is to be taken from/how much it will hurt that would definately decide it for me as i am a big wuss
Have the biopsy.I suffer from PLE and have had three skin biopsies over the years. It doesn't hurt ..they numb the area and scrape a bit of skin and flesh out and then bung a stitch in.You can have this removed a couple of days later. Mine were on my face but it hasn't left any scar.
It is probably something minor and curable but it's better to be safe than sorry.

The Doc seemed not far from 100% that it's a rare form of dermatitis and actually named it within seconds of seeing....I feel that they just want my flesh for research. I am pretty convined it's not malignant as it well over a year I've had this without any significant change in appearance or otherwise....
-I AM trying to talk myself out of this! -I haven't been stiched up before!
Hi - like Shaney I have PLE and also had a biopsy on my arm but I have been left with an obvious, though small, scar.

I would still have a biopsy though to be totally sure what it is.Just make sure they do it somewhere that can't be seen easily.
