oh sweetheart, I feel for you. Can you take the usual NSAIDS ie: Neurophen, of which you can also take Paracetomol is you have a temperature. Please eat food too whilst taking pain killers as, on very good medical opinion, they are 'gut rot'.... xXx
I had Ear Ache for over 8 Months and I can honestly say that the best thing is Co-Codomol or Ibroprufen. (Or Vodka but don't take the Painkillers and then Drink the Vodka!!)
The other thing you could try is a Warm Flannel held against the Ear - it helped me get to sleep at Night when I had my Ear Ache.
And get the the Docs ASAP as the earlier it's sorted the better - trust me, you don't want 8 Months of it!!
Hey there CrazyDaisy, what was the outcome of your earache that was put up with for 8 months? did the medics fix it? or did you? earache is horrible, and I know you say don't do the pain relief with alcohol, but? it sure the hell knocks you out lol a double shot of Voddy and no earache?dont do that russandkaty for 8 months though... ;-)

Thanks all. Much appreciated.
Long Story.... But basically, had Inner Ear Infection, Doc said it was a 'Build Up' of Ear Wax!! Refused to put me on Antibiotics as I was making too much fuss and he didn't believe me!!!! Went to every Doc in the Practice and they all said it was something different!!!! In the End I got sent to the Hospital who said it was one of the worst Inner Ear Infections that they had ever seen, packed my Ear with Chemical Soaked Cloth and Prescribed me with 2 Double Dose Antibiotics and it was all gone 2 Weeks later!!
try lying on a hot water bottle - i find this works - and when i was a kid my dad would put earex or something in, telling us it was to stop the pain (its just for earwax, but we didn't know that) anyway it seemed to soothe it.

also i was advised to try a few drops of warmed olive oil, and then cotton wool - any cold air will make it worse.
yep, nowt like a GP eh CrazyDaisy lol....
russandkaty? take heed hun, if you feel you need antibiotics, then demand them. Alternatively, if refused? go to A+E, get a decent docs opinion and go by what they say.
I wish you well. xXx
Thanks yesmadam!! Luckily I very much like Vodka and I know the People at my Local A&E (Work on the Ambulances) so I am all set!!!!
i had a very bad earache some years ago and tried putting a warm hot water bottle on it. i woke up some hours later with a loud cracking noise inside my ear and a sound like a volcano erupting. my ear started to bleed and i lost my balance!! turns out i had a middle ear infection which gp said was drawn out by the warmth and ruptured my eardrum ! it was very scary . do you have a walk in clinic open on saturdays ? take the strongest painkillers you can get til then .
hope u r ok
