Should I do pregnancy test?

I am on the Cerazette pill and haven't had a period for over two years. My doc has said this is ok and means the pill is working. Anyway about a week and a half ago there was a drunken night where I forgot to take my pill and on the same night may have slept with someone although I can't remember. It is a friend of mine but really don't want to ask him. It sounds awful, however I am pretty certain it didn't happen, I am just very paranoid about getting pregnant as I had an abortion a couple of years ago.

Now should I take a test and when? As I haven't had a period for a long time I'm not sure.

I feel happy with Cerazette generally but do have these paranoid moments due to the lack of periods.

Thanks in advance for any help

this has to be a joke...

Sorry, no it isn't. Why? I know if you forget to take a pill you should take other precautions. As I say my memories are hazy.
I'm sorry you think it's a joke. I am very paranoid about these things.

"If you are more than twelve hours late in taking this pill you will not be protected from pregnancy and should use an extra barrier method of contraception, eg condoms, for the next seven days, while continuing with your normal pill taking."

So, yes, that would suggest you should think about a pregnancy test, though it would seem unlikely (but not impossible) for you to get prenant.

More to the point, if you're in the habit of sleeping with people when you're drunk you really need to get into the habit of also using condoms just to keep yourself safe.

Thanks for the info. This was a one off actually. You know these things happen. I am quite certain nothing happened anyway but I think you should understand I am quite paranoid. So anyway, no I don't make a habit of this. Thanks anyway but there's really no need to be so judgmental.
Seriously if you are that paranoid, why havent you done the test already instead of waiting for answers on here?

and, you cant remember if you had sex? how drunk were you? and forgot your pill on same night? ... all a bit unlucky really...

Because, if you'd read my question properly I'm not sure how long I should leave it until I should do a test. I've read before it should be a few weeks after but I'm not sure if this is the case.

And yeah, it is unlucky but that's life. There's really no need to get nasty. I was just asking a question, which is what this site is for isn't it?
Hey there genners,

since your worrying and your not sure about when to take a pregnancy test, i would suggest taking a trip to your GP or family planning clinic, they will be able to do a test and put your mind at rest.

also just incase you did have unprotected sex it would be worth getting yourself an STI checkup, better being safe.

goodluck.

in the event pregnancy is suspected when on the pill, they usually say to wait at least 35 days before testing. This will make the reading more accurate.

On the other hand, it is probably better to go see dr as if you are pregnant, you don't really want to be taking the pill still and also some pills can interfer with your HcG level making the reading innacurate anyway. As other posters have also said, you should also be making sure you havn't picked up any stds some of which are far nastier than an unplanned pregnancy.

keep safe

Awww, I feel for you! My friends on that pill and even when she does take it properly she still gets paranoid!! Going to the doctors would probably be best, they'll know when you should take a test and stuff!
Hey Genners -

We all make mistakes in life, this is nothing unusual, so don't feel bad.

I feel sorry for you and can only advise you as others have which is to go to the docs or a clinic for professional advice.

Once you've gone and explained the situation to them you'll feel much better, rather than leaving it and carrying a massive weight on your back.

I hope it all goes well and try not to drink so much in the future, to avoid further situations like this.

Good Luck!

It's worth mentioning that you can't get false positives with pregnancy tests i.e. if it says you're pregnant, you are.

It is possible that the ball of cells fails to implant properly and will be passed from the body, almost certainly without you realising, but you were still pregnant at the point you did the test.

You can do tests and get false negatives however. These occur when the hormones that the tests are designed to pick up haven't built up to a detectable level.
