Hi AB'rs - Thought I'd share a recent first date disaster with you all, and wondered if anybody else had any they wanted to share.

I met somebody on Wednesday night for a first date (after meeting the weekend before) Met him in a public place and when I got there he had a backpack with him. I never questioned it and we were sat in the pub when he said "so am I still ok to stay at yours tonight" I told him in no uncertain terms that no he wasn't as I wasn't about to invite a strange man back to my house, he said he was sure I'd mentioned it on the phone, which I had not in any way.

I think he was obviously just trying it on, but was I over reacting to think what a cheek?

Anyway, needless to say date didn't last much longer after that and i've ignored the phone since.

What do you all think to that? I was gobsmacked......any other men tried that one?!

he had a back pack with him on a date?
Maybe he wasn't trying it on, he just had nowhere to stay! lol

Words fail me! He'd gone to all the trouble of packing his jim-jams, toothbrush and everything - dear oh dear. Without doubt you did the right thing with that one.

Yep, I thought it was odd but you know first date and all that I didn't want to question it really.

I dont care if he had to sleep on a park bench, he wasn't staying at mine! I packed him home in a taxi, he had a home to go to I know he did.
Go girl - what a cheek!! Am laughing a lot though - you poor thing!!
OMG! What a weirdo!!! Well done you. That would have freaked me right out.x
10 out of 10 for ingenuity. Perhaps it works sometimes, impressed. Was also impressed with a guy in our local, sat there with a bunch of flowers all by himself,Surprising the amount of lasses that went chatting to him. Reckon it was a fiver well spent
lou 100, good girl for sending him packing you just dont know what may have happened if you had let him go home with you. don't worry about over reacting it best to be safe than sorry. take care. Brenda x
my guess is that he would still be living at yours 3 months down the line, claiming squatters rights, bonding with your cats and knowing more about your neighbours goings on than you!! cheeky ****** for trying it on and if he didn't have anywhere to stay.. doesn't bode well for a budding relationship really. stay well awaygirl!

Thanks everybody, at least I know the general feeling is that I didn't over react and you all thought it was very weird as well.

Are there any nice ones out there, I seem to meet all the weirdos!
Of course there are. They're maybe thinking the same thing about ladies. Somewhere there's a guy hoping to meet someone like you. Have faith .
take a rucksack on your next date and see what happens?
Flippin eck! Was it Ray Mears?
Why did he bring his stuff in a backpack...surely he's missing out on 'the walk of shame' the next morning, had he not turned up with it and got lucky!!!

I love spying WoS-ers on the weekend.....last night's shirt looking inappropriate in the light of day!

That's not to say there is anything to be ashamed of, i should add!

But to answer your question: weird...and a tad presumptious!
