As siblings grow up and form their own families they seem to drift apart and the contact decreases. But after the children are grown up and leave home do siblings regain contact and take a bit more interest in each others life?

I suppose they do in some cases ~ of course there are siblings who will drift apart and never regain contact because they just don't like each other ;o)

Generally, I think that people tend to spend so much of their time raising children and doing their 'immediate family' stuff that they are too busy for adult socialising. In my parents case, they are enjoying the freedom of being able to take holidays with their siblings, eating out together etc without the pressure of having to watch what their kids are up to!

My sister is 10 years younger than me & we have never been that close, however now that we both have children of around the same age we have far more to talk about. I don't think we will socialise that much once our children have grown up, as we may find that once again we aren't that close!
Being an only child, I can`t answer from experience. I have seen families drift apart & never regain the closeness they used to have.
me and my brother are very close ive got my own family hes got a partner, but we make sure we see each other every weekend go shopping have lunch, hes my best friend id be lost without him, weve been through so much over the years, but i know of people who dont see there familys and they live near each other
In my experience you dont really appreciate who your parents are or what they have done for you until your are either in your mid 30s or have children of your own -whichever comes first.
my siblings and myself (8 of us), we are all grown up and now have our own families and live apart from each other, some in different countries. we are still very close and very loyal to each other, and always there to support and help each other when help is needed. i will die if i loose one of them, i love them so much.
