all men see in only 16 colours, like Windows default settings. Peach, for example, is a fruit, not a colour. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is....????

what is the question sorry?
jamwam55, all I can say is, if your wife really is trying on new clothes, make sure you say all the right things. We women get upset very easily. ;-}

Light purple. Not to be confused with Lilac.

There's a funny scene in an old film where a woman is describing to the chief decorator what colour scheme she wants, something like this..
'The lounge should be primrose, but not too harsh - mellower like a sunrise or a golden egg yolk. Rose for the hallway - but a kind of peachy rose with a hint of damson. Cream for the ceiling - a pale cream, not too buttery, almost like a creme faiche'. When she's gone he turns to his colleague and says 'yellow, pink, white'.

that's really funny ludwig!

I know what you mean jamwan55, my husband can't see the difference between a bluey green and a greeny blue - yet to me it's obvious. he insists there is only blue or green!

If he sees a colour he can't describe he says it's puce! (sp)

im male and i know what you mean, Although i do alot more artistic things than most men eg.painting, sketches, etc. etc.
I have to say I've never come across people who think like this (see in only a few colours)-s'pose its never come up in conversation.

PS what is mauve?
i always confuse mauve with maroon! Mauve is purply and maroon is winey - i think!
mauve is a bit like dusky pink - but deeper and more purple, but not as deep as bugundy or maroon
