How do you know if the feelings you have for a person are simply because you miss the security of the long term relationship you have just come out of?

I was with my ex for 6 and a half years and we broke up nearly two months ago, a decision which I don't regret. However, I have now found a new partner who I really feel I have strong feelings for and this person has even mentioned the word "love". How do I know if I am really feeling this things or if I am still on the rebound? I don't want to mess this person around or hurt them.

Hi,

I would think you should take your time before declaring love,it takes more than a few weeks after coming out of long term relationships,as you say,no regrets about the break up,but at the moment so early into a new partner maybe it is just the security thing ,just see how it goes for a little while, but having said all that only you know how you feel, hope things work for you, take care, Ray xx
