if you wait for the first day of your period you will be protected straight away. you can start taking it anytime but remember you wont be protected . it should say on the sheet inside the box how long you will have to wait to be protected from pregnancy if you dont start it on the day of your period.

if its your new pill when did you stop taking the old pill as that may make a differance too?

why do you "need" to start taking it earlier. Surely you can control yourself! If not then use a condom!
I started taking a new pill straight after my old one without waiting for the first day of my period! Big mistake! I had the worst pains ever, so I stopped taking the pill and when my period came it was not a pretty sight!!!! If you catch my drift...

i 'need' to start taking it Gevs1966, because im going travelling in asia and want to stop my periods for a couple of months, thus i wont be able to wait for the first day of my period, i will have to take it to fit in with my travels. just wanted to know if it was ok to do that, i'm not concerned about if it offers protection or not. perhaps i should have made that more clear.
