I would just use an antiseptic wet wipe and then maybe some salt water on your ears for a few days, it could be the studs are slightly larger than u are used to.
Someone once told me that coating the posts in clear nail varnish stops irritation. I havent tried it myself but thought I'd pass this on!

Erm..... Warren James is a very cheap jewellers, maybe you have a reaction to the gold, it may well be real gold but might not be all that good.

Why don't you try coating the bit that goes through your ear with clear nail varnish?

I do that chazza - I am allergic to nickel and so if I wear some jewllery like costume jewllery I have to paint clear nail varnish on the back, otherwise I have an itchy red rash in an hour.

its not that cheap as my earings have a diamond in and they cost over 150 pound so its not cos they are fake!
Sorry but I agree with nat, Warren James isn't what you would class generally as an expensive jewellers.

Pure gold is not used to make gold jewellery because its not hard enough, so other metals have to be mixed with gold to make it stronger and more easily worked. 18 and 24 carat gold doesnt contain nickel which most people get an allergic reaction from. 9 carat gold can contain nickel so this should be avoided. Unfortunately, most jewellery is made of 9 carat gold.

Gold-plated jewellery and rolled gold should not be worn either. Gold plating is usually thin and wears off quickly, and nickel then comes to the surface. Foreign gold is made up of a different mixture of metals and so this type of gold should also be avoided. White gold can also contain nickel.

If you intend to continue wearing them, then I think the nail varnish is probably worth a try.
I agree 150 isn't cheap but diamonds are expensive and they may have scimped on the quality of the gold for this. I would go back to the shop with them and tell them; see if they have any suggestions....

What are the earrings like? Perhaps you could do a price check with other High Street stores (try Beaverbrooks, HSamuel, Argos even) and judge the quality of the gold. I think helsbels theory sounds like ti could make sense.

I can't wear 9carat gold as it contains nickel to which I am allergic. As far as I'm aware its the only carat of gold that does.
