Wet bed - and I'm in my 40's!!

The other night I must have been in such a deep sleep that I dreamt I was getting out of bed and went to the loo, but I actually wet the bed. I hadn't been drinking but have got a head cold.

I was absolutely mortified. I had to wake my husband and change the bed - and I've only been married 9 months.

It was the most embarrassing thing - has anyone else had a similar experience and how can I stop myself from doing this again. Its never happened before but I think I've had similar dreams but managed to wake up in time.

Dont worry about it.I was once on strong medication which zonked me and the same thing happened. Its happened to almost everyone I know and the more you think about it the more paranoid you'll become. We laugh about it now and you will at one point as well - honest hun!!

Its one of those things that I put down to - well if its happened to me then its happened to other people.

You were obviously exhausted - just forget it:)

It has happened to me before. I don't think you should lose any sleep over it since it is not a regular thing. The fact that it happened once should not make you go bunkers.

The old and effective remedy (unless this is a peculiar medical problem) remains going to the loo before hitting the bed.

Cheer up woman and enjoy your marriage. I'm sure your husband understands.

Thanks - Im glad Im not the only one. I was just so embarrassed. Hubby was fine about it... thank goodness.
Can't say I have ever done it but doesn't sound out of the ordinary and if it was a one off I would'nt worry about it.
Do try not to worry about it Suzi, I am sure it is a one off and like you say your hubby was so supportive regarding it and that is the main thing. I am such a powerful dreamer (I think I have too much imagination at times) and have had to lately ask people if what I dreamt is reality!!!! I am sure in your situation you maybe kept waking up briefly and thought " I must go to the loo" and then drifted back into a heavy sleep getting confused.
It's mortifying I know but probably happens more than people will admit. However, if you're worried about it happening again (and it probably won't) you can buy washable quilted waterproof lined patchwork type mini-blankets about a metre square which you simply slip under your lower bedsheet around your bottom area to protect the mattress. You may be able to buy them at the medical counter in Boots Chemists, or at shops which sell medical aids to the elderly or disabled. If you Google incontinance aids, you may be able to track down some suppliers to give you peace of mind in the future.

Reminds me of in dumb and dumber when they freezing their asses off on the scooter and one says mind if i pee, go ahead said the other, ahhhhh now thats warmer....ewwww.

I never done it, but often have to get out of bed to go, even though i went 10 minutes ago, just psychogical, but damn annoying.

I just put a bin bag under the sheets and it didnt happen again. It happens to so many people - remember if you are knocked unconcious thats the first thing that happens - same can happen if anyone is in a deep sleep

My god if I sneeze I think Tena ladies time:)

oh my god totally mortifying! my worst fear - I go before bed, then just as I'm dropping off just in case and then if I'm semi-conscious in the night I have to get up again - which then means I'm then wide wake which is very annoying - but just in case..........might help if i didnt have a bladder the size of a pea but better to be save than have to sleep in the wet patch!

Thanks everyone. Yeah it doesnt help having a bladder the size of a gnat does it. Im sure it gets worse as we get older - sneezing, laughing or running are all a bit dodgy these days eh? But still don't want to wear incontinence pads to bed!!! - Cant see it doing much for the love life!

Just have to keep getting up twice a night.
