Has anyone actually quit for good using hypnotherapy?

Did you stop immediately after the session?

Would you reccommend it?

Thanks

my housemate had it and it completely freaked her out and gave her bad nightmares. she did much better with the nicotine patches, and has now been fag-free for two years.
I went to Allen Carr a few years ago with a friend. Said friend gave it up and has never smoked since. Moi...well..I went back twice and am still smoking. I needed to take the chap who was doing the spiel home with me really !! Shame on you ..I hear you all cry..but believe me I have tried the lot ..even Zyban and acupuncture. I'm afraid I am not one of these people who is open to suggestion ..you would have to knock me out first to hypnotise me..so no..it didn't work for me .
yep i went completely sceptical about the whole thing, and smoked a sly one before i went in! Sat through it, paid my money, walked out of there and haven't smoked since. I'm not sure whether it was the actual procedure or just the fact that it cost 75 and i refuse to pay that much for nothing!!! Whatever, it worked for me.
I am a hypnotherapist - my success rate for helping people to stop smoking is around 80 - 85%. I know because I always go back to clients around six months following therapy and ask them. It really is down to the individual but it is not a quick fix. Overall it makes cravings easier to bear, but you may still experiece the urge to smoke on occasions.- particularly when you are in a smokey atmosphere e.g. pubs. Having said that - some of my clients have had no cravings at all - so each person will vary. Overall, hypnosis can be an excellent aid to stopping smoking for some, and of little use to others. When you are dealing with people's minds, there are no guarantees. Note:- always check that your hypnotherapist is qualified and ask where they have trained and if they are a member of a nationally recognised organisation. Hope this helps.

Thank you for those answers.

I am going to book this week, and see if it works. I really do want to stop...so with any luck I'll be a non smoker by the week after. Wish me luck.

Good for you thickym - please post us your progress - I'd really like to know if it was successful for you. Good Luck
