If you dont have report an answer next to your post does that mean someone has reported you?

If that is the case I have been reported for a really pleasant reply in defence of another member who was being insulted.

I can honestly say I have reported possibly twice but some people would appear to report if THEY are personally offended.Thats not the way it works - take the rough with the smooth.

Hi Drisgirl. You shouldn't have 'report answer' next to any of your own posts. You can't report yourself!
Take care! -E

Hi Drisgirl, just think how much easier it would be if you could report your own posts? All those typo's and spelling mistakes, and the quick (but not too coherent) reply after too many pints of heavy etc :)

Did you notice how many of our replies were banned over the Penguin question, what was all that about?

Somebody ratted us out. Damnation!

I meant reply to someone elses post silly!I knew you couldnt report on your own post but if you pay attention you will see there is quite often not the facility to report an answer - not just on my replies.

Stevie - do me a favour and report me if you suspect I am under the influence to spare my blushes.I'm fine just now.

Penquins - someone who didnt have a sense of humour and were jealous we did.I laughed so much I almost p1ddled:).Our AB cred took a nosedive - I mean getting banned for being over zealous on a contensious issue is one thing but penquins laying an egg.- whats the world coming to (my old granny used to say) :)

x (Just to keep the rumourmonger going). Are we the Preston and Chantelle of AB?

Dont answer that - I'm just going to put the tea on and dont want to spoil my appetite!

remember that each time you post on AB, an email goes to the person who started the thread. If the penguin person wasn't you, she would have got an awful lot of emails regarding posts that didn't relate to her original 'question'. Maybe she reported them?

I believe that was the reason jno. However it was just harmless banter and didnt warrant the things which were said.As I said - I just close the Q when I post it and it saves AB sending e-mails.Think most people check any Q they have posted.l am perplexed however how there can be sometimes 6 or 7 responses, running together, to a Q and not one has the report an answer next to them. There will be an obvious reason and I suspect I just need educated. Thanks if anyone can understand what I mean and explain to a thicko!!!

not sure, but it may mean that they've been reported, and AB Ed has checked them out and decided they're ok. So removing the report panel from them would stop anyone else doing it again.

I sympathise with the view that many don't want to see a thread they have started get hi-jacked, however, in my experience the 'report this answer' system is often open to abuse by those who: dont like the respondent, or disagree with there views. Therefore well thought out replies (not abusive or offensive) often disappear, skewing the balance of opinions, purely because of the petty malice of a minority of small-minded individuals.

In the interest of freedom of speech and democracy, people should restrain from clicking away at views they dont agree with, as the path to censorship often leads to dangerous ignorance and bigotry.
After all, I may not agree with some of the views expressed on this site, but Ill defend their rights to express them.

Even Drisgirl ;)
